Burzis Kanga is known to be an American tennis coach and the former husband of Hoda Kotb prior to their divorce. Burzis was born in America and therefore has an American nationality. Most sources report that he is of Egyptian ethnicity while others claim his roots are from Tanzania in East Africa. Burzis has not revealed any details of his birthday, his family background and upbringing to the media. He has been successful in having people guess and only attempt to guess his real age. Therefore, going by how old he looks and the known birthday of his former wife Hoda who was born on the 9th day of August 1964, one would easily assume that he should have been born around that time or possibly a little older than then.

From childhood, Burzis Kanga loved the game of tennis and grew as an avid player of the game in addition to being a bright student in his schooling days. Between 1980 to 1983 he was a member of a private tennis team where he was an indispensable team member. He played with the team for four seasons winning over 50 matches with them. In 1984, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and devoted more time to playing tennis professionally. He played on satellite tennis circuits in Mexico, USA and in Europe taking home several laurels for his spectacular victories.

As Sports Commissioner for the 1996 AAU Junior Olympics games, Burzis is credited with bringing back the University Tennis Center to life. He was a board member of Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation for a long time and made several contributions to the development of sports in the foundation.

He was one of the coaches at University of New Orleans (UNO) from 1986 to 1989 and again in 2003. Burzis was hired to coach Lakefront as a head coach in 2008 and in his first season there, he made a remarkable 81-9 mark as a senior and earned the record of being the only member of UNO tennis team to receive the All-American honors.

Of late, Burzis Kanga has been working as the head coach for the New Orleans Privateers for years and for both the men and women teams.

Burzis Kanga and Hoda Kotb met while attending an event of the American Heart Association on 2004′ Valentine’s Day in New Orleans. Hoda is a media personality who hosts television shows and anchors the news for NBC television station.

They dated for a year before Burzis proposed to her in May 2005 to which she accepted and it led to their marriage in December 2005 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The love that once held them together lasted only for two years as Hoda filed for divorce on February 15, 2007, and it was finally granted on February 6, 2008.

Hoda Kotb is now married to Joel Schiffman and they are both parents to a baby girl she adopted having suffered fertility issues caused by cancer prior to her divorcing Burzis Kanga.

Despite having ended her marriage with Burzis, she speaks of him to be a good person and was very instrumental in the successes she had recorded in her career as at the time the two were an item.

The reason for their divorce has since then remained an unrevealed secret as neither Burziz nor Hoda have made any revelations about it.
