Cara Gee was born on the 3rd of September 1983 in Alberta, Canada but she, however, grew up in Ontario, Canada. Her professional career started out with stage performances. She has a long list of theater performances and plays she has participated in, including Tout Comme elle which was produced by Louise Dupre, The Rez Sisters by Tomson Highway, The Penelope by Margaret Atwood and 36 Little Plays about Hopeless Girls which was produced by Birdtown. She also featured in Swanville and Arigato Tokyo among several others.
Gee’s film career started with her role as Lena in Empire of Dirt in 2013. Her other movie roles include playing Emily Bronte in The Carmilla Movie and Isis Wong in the short film, We Forgot to Break Up in 2017. She had an uncredited role in Call of the Wind in 2019.
Cara also has experience acting on the small screen. These include starring as Alicia Pratta in King in 2012 and as Sydney Morrison in Republic (2013). Other television shows in which she has appeared are The Expanse, Inhuman Condition, The Neddeaus of Duqesne Island and Republic of Doyle.
Gee landed her first lead role on television in 2014 when she played the role of Kat Loving in the television series, Strange World. The story was set in a border town of 1860s Canada where a group of women formed an alliance to protect what remained of their families after their husbands and other men in the town were brutally killed.

Cara Gee was a nominee for best actress award during the Canadian Screen Awards of 2014 for her role as Lena in the 2013 drama, Empire of Dirt. Other Canadian Screen Award nominees from Empire of Dirt include Jennifer Podemski who played the role of her mother, Minerva in the film and was nominated for the best-supporting-actress award that same year.
Other nominations went to Jorge Weisz for best editing and Shannon Masters for best Original Screenplay. The film itself was nominated for best picture.
Gee won the American Indian Film Festival Award for Best Actress as well as the Toronto International Film Festival Special Jury Award in 2013 for portraying the role of Lena in Empire of Dirt. Her work in Empire of Dirt has brought her the most awards to date.
