Carla Suarez Navarro was born in the Canary Islands capital city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on the 3rd of September 1988.

From around the age of nine, she began playing tennis but it was at around 17 that she began to take the sport seriously and actively worked to make a career out of it.

At the 2009 Australian Open, Carla Suárez Navarro again made sure that her presence was felt by the supposed top players as she reached another Grand Slam quarterfinal, notably upsetting, a top 10 ranked player, along the way.
In 2010, Suarez Navarro again pulled off yet another huge upset as she defeated world No.3 player, Svetlana Kuznetsova, who was the top seed at the BNP Paribas Open.
Between 2010 and 2015, despite all the hype that she had built around her career as the next big thing in professional women’s tennis, Suarez Navarro was quite unable to win a Grand Slam tournament, or even make a semifinal appearance in the singles category.
