American journalism, from print media, television and the internet are locked in a war for the soul of the country. Before 2016, there was an implicit understanding that journalists in America want the same thing, a great country for people of all backgrounds, however, since the events of November 2016, there has been an erosion of that understanding and a growing division along social, political and financial philosophies. Before she started making a mockery of liberal ideas and talking points on Fox News, Cathy was an established journalist for the Washington Post born on the 15th of January, 1971. She was raised in Summit, New Jersey where she was born to immigrant parents from Cuba. As a child of educated parents – a mathematician and an electronic engineer, education was not a choice for Cathy. Her education history at high school level is currently unknown but we know she attended Florida State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature in 1992. She went further ahead to acquire a master’s degree in English Education from Nova Southeastern University where she worked as an adult education and Spanish teacher.

After she completed her master’s program and graduated, she worked briefly as a high school teacher, teaching English and also taught Journalism at Palm Beach County schools. After a few months of teaching, Cathy Areu began her professional career as a journalist in 2001 when she joined the Washington Post as an interviewer for their First Person Singular column. While she was at Washington Post, she had a chance to interview various important personalities such as , Al Franken, , Laura Bush, and a few others. She was at Washington Post for 11 years before she left in 2012.

While she was at Washington Post, she started her own magazine, Catalina, which was targeted at Hispanic women. As a Latina woman, she has crafted herself as a voice for the Latina woman and culture in American media. She has contributed to various magazines and television talk shows, from being a regular contributor for Latina Style in 2001, People magazine and USA Weekend to television appearances for talk shows like The Daily Rundown on MSNBC, AC360 and Campbell Brown on CNN, The Show on Fox.

Cathy Areu has also tapped further into her knowledge of the Latina culture to write and publish a book she entitled Latino Wisdom: Celebrity Stories of Hope, Inspiration, and Success to Recharge Your Mind, Body, and Soul. The book was released in 2006. In 2018, she began to appear on Tucker Carson’s Fox News show, Tucker Carlson Tonight. On the show, the exceptional journalist contributes as the “Liberal Sherpa” – a guide for the exploration of liberal perspectives and ideology on the conservative media platform. Her appearance on the show has been widely criticized by the other media outlets and several left-wing personalities.

In addition to making her appearances as a freelance journalist, Areu mostly spends her time running the Catalina Magazine where she has been able to build a sizeable personal wealth of $500,000 for herself.
