He began playing football with Middlebrough’s young squad in 1997 and advanced through the ranks. In May 2011, he was given a three-year deal after scoring over 30 goals in all competitions during the 2010-11 season. He signed a youth loan with Football Conference side Kettering Town on March 2, 2012, and made 12 appearances for the club, scoring twice and assisting once in all competitions.
