Charlotte Gainsbourg is in the class of those multitalented celebrities that seem to be there for almost forever. She is a singer and actress whose career as a musician began even before she became a teenager, the same as her acting career. The British-French actress and singer was born Charlotte Lucy Gainsbourg to the popular duo of Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg on 21st July 1971 in London, England. While her father was a French musician and actor, her mother is likewise an actress and singer who also did modeling.
Although she had other half-siblings from both of her parents, she was brought up as the only child between them.
Apart from her parents, she is from a line of people in the entertainment industry as her grandmother (Judy Campbell), her uncle (Andrew Birkin) and other members of her family are also actors.
As a result of her kind of family, the bet on her after her publicized birth was that she was going to also join the entertainment world. That became true as, by the time she was 12, she was already singing and had released her first single with her father, “Lemon Incest”. Three years later, she released an album, Charlotte for Ever.
She did not release any album again until 2006 when she dropped 5:55. The album was certified platinum in France. It was followed by IRM in 2009, Stage Whisper in 2011, and then Rest in 2017.
As an actress, she got her first role in 1984 when she appeared in Paroles et musique and then in 1985, she was in La tentation d’Isabelle and L’Effrontée. In 1986, she was in Charlotte for Ever and then Le Petit Amour, La Petite Voleuse, and Jane B. par Agnès V. in 1988.
From then on, she has come to appear in many more films. The recent movies she made are Les fantômes d’Ismaël, The Snowman, and La promesse de l’aube in 2017 and also I Think We’re Alone Now in 2018.
Charlotte Gainsbourg has won a number of awards in her career including 2 César Awards which is the highest film honor in France. She also took home an Independent Spirit Award, Bodil Award, and Cannes Film Festival among others.

Since 1991, the Anglo-French actress-singer has been in a steady relationship but she has never been married. She met Yvan Attal, a French director, and actor who was born in Israel on the set of Aux Yeux du Monde in 1991.
The two have remained very close since then, but there is nothing about marriage in sight for them. According to the actress, she is not interested in getting married mainly because her parents were never married. Nonetheless, her long-time director boyfriend proposed to her publicly in 2013 but they are still not married.
Having spent close to three decades together as lovers, Attal and Gainsbourg have three children between them. Their first child, Ben was born in 1997 followed by Alice in 2002, and then Joe in 2011.
