Biography (Age)

Born Keith Farrelle Cozart, Chief Keef is a mixtape artist, rapper and record producer. He was born on August 15, 1995, in Chicago. He attended Dulles Elementary School and the Banner School, a therapeutic day school. Keef dropped out of Dyett High School at age 15. He began active rap in 2011 after dropping out of school. Unsurprisingly, his first and immediate fan base was from his neighborhood and schoolmates. In December 2011, Keef had the first of his very many brushes with local law enforcement when he was arrested for firing illegal firearms.

He was consequently placed under house arrest at his grandmother’s house for 30 days, followed by another 30 days of home confinement. While under house arrest, Chief Keef kept putting out content on YouTube, the more music he put out, the more popular he seemed to become. His Mix tapes – Bang, Back From the Dead, and music videos, including “I Don’t Like” became instant hits across Chicago’s Airwaves.

In March 2016, Chief Keef announced via his twitter handle that he was retiring from rap. For a 21-year-old artist at the time, it was a strange decision. He went ahead to release four more mixtapes in the lead up to the release of his third album, Dedication, on December 1, 2017.

Chief Keef’s Baby Mama and Kids

For someone so young, Chief Keef has had a rough time with commitments and fatherhood. At 16, he had a daughter named Kayden Kash Cozart in 2011. He and his baby mama have had numerous child support rows along the way. Two years later, another baby mama surfaced claiming Keef to be the father of her daughter; DNA documents later revealed that Keef was actually the father. She was named Kimora Sosha Kozart.

In September 2014, Keef announced the birth of his third child, and first son, Krüe Karter Cozart and stirred controversy when he named his son after the record label he had just signed for. He named him Sno Filmon Dot Com Cozart. The middle name, Filmon Dot Com, is in reference to FilmOn Entertainment, owned by billionaire Alki David who issued a press statement to the effect that Chief Keef and his newest baby mama have agreed to name the newborn Sno FilmOn Dot Com Cozart in order to promote the release of the album Bang 3.

Chief Keef’s mother is Lolita Carter. Keef never had a relationship with his father, leaving his upbringing to his mother and grandmother. At the age of five, while living with his grandma, Keith would use his mother’s karaoke machine and blank tapes to record his rap and record.
