Christopher Fowler hails from Denver, Colorado, a town where he was born on the 23rd of August 1962. His father Knox Fowler is an academic who taught theater as a professor at State Collge Pennsylvania – a place where Chris would spend part of his childhood. Chris Fowler also did some growing up at Rockford, Illinois as well as Colorado Springs where he attended General William J. Palmer High School from where he’d come to graduate in 1980.

Immediately after high school, Chris Fowler enrolled at the University of Colorado where he studied Radio and Television News, graduating in 1985. His interest in TV began in high school and he would come to be the first benefactor of the Denver Press Club’s Alan Berg Memorial Journalism Scholarship Award. While he was yet to earn his degree, Chris Fowler got busy working a handful of jobs to gain hands-on experience in his chosen field of study.

About a year into college, he began covering sports for the Denver daily newspaper, Rocky Mountain News. Simultaneously, Chris Fowler produced and co-hosted a weekly magazine program aired via cable TV in Boulder, Colorado. He also contributed to his university’s radio station KAIR-AM as a sports director.

With a wealth of experience as an undergrad, Fowler had made landing jobs post-college an easy feat. He interned at the ABC-affiliate KMGH-TV and worked briefly with the NBC Denver affiliate KCNC-TV. Barely a year after earning his college degree, ESPN came knocking. His first role at the sports giant was as a host/reporter of Scholastic Sports America, a position he served in for two years from 1986 to 1988. He then got promoted to college football sideline reporting.

Chris Fowler began serving as the host of College GameDay in 1990, a role that lasted for over two decades ending in 2014. With Fowler at the helm of affairs, the show won 5 Sports Emmy for Best Weekly Studio Show (2008, 2010, 2011, 2014 and 2015).
