Clayne Crawford was born on April 20, 1978, as Joseph Crawford. He was born in Clay, Alabama to the family of Matthew Vincent and Lennie Crawford. He attended Hewitt-Trussville High School in Jefferson County, Alabama, where he showed a keen interest in sporting activities. In high school, Crawford played basketball and football, and was also a part of the school’s wrestling team, After graduating from high school, he pursued his college education at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he continued to play basketball.

He would have thought of a career in the game until a serious knee injury ended his aspirations. When he turned his thoughts towards acting, Crawford attended The Adarang Approach where he took acting classes. There he also met , who was also a student of the institute at the same time. Acting Career

Clayne Crawford had to leave his hometown in Alabama to seek out what opportunities may open up to him in the entertainment industry as he moved to Los Angeles in 1996. To show support and encourage his son, his father drove him down himself. Having left home, Crawford had to work in a construction company to support his himself financially.

Originally known as “Joey Crawford”, he had to change his first name to “Clayne” in 2000 and so he became known professionally as “Clayne Crawford.” On why he decided to change his first name, Crawford has said it was done to honor his hometown – Clay (and also a progenitor named “Clan”).

He started out by appearing in small theater productions until 1997 when he made his screen debut. Clayne Crawford’s first feature was in the television series titled Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997). It would be until 2001 that he would get his first role in a movie. He got a role in the movie One Blood Planet (2001) where he portrayed the character, Cady. He also got a second role in a TV series in the same year with his appearance in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Henry McFadden. From then on, it was an upward streak for him as countless producers and directors have continually sought to walk with him. His latest job was on the Fox TV series Lethal Weapon where he played the role of Martin Riggs. He started working on the series form 2016 and had featured in 40 episodes so far until it was reported on May 8, 2018, that he had been removed from the TV series. His offense? Abusive behavior on set. Fans feared it would turn out to be fake news, but as the third season of the show was announced on May 14, 2018, it was also announced that actor Seann William Scott will replace Clayne Crawford on the show.

Clayne Crawford’s career has seen him pick up one nomination which shows his impressive performances on the screens has not been unnoticed. His role as Ted Talbot, Jr. in Rectify (2013-15) gave him his first Hollywood nomination as Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series by the TV Critics’ Choice Awards.
