Through his career, Dan Harmon has won awards such a Primetime Emmy award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and an OFTA Television Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series. He won the awards in 2009 and 2012 respectively.

He also worked on other movies including Monster House and Kung Fu Panda which he was said to have participated in the writing. The actor and producer has been married to actress and comedian . The two dated for a rather long time before deciding to take things to the next stage by getting engaged in 2013. On 15th November 2014, they decided to make it even more official by becoming man and wife at a ceremony at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles.
