David Silva’s Bio, Age

Silva was born in Arguineguín – one of the most populated towns along the South Coast of Gran Canaria, Spain on the 8th day of January 1986. His full name is David Josué Jiménez Silva.

His father Fernando Jiménez Silva, was a former municipal police officer who would later be to the security of the Valencia CF stadium. His mom’s name is Eva Silva, she has been a full-time housewife. Silva has a Spanish/Japanese descent, his father is from Spain and his mother is said to have a Japanese descent.

David has two siblings – Nando Jiménez Silva (brother) and Natalia Jiménez Silva (sister).

Career

Football is something Silva has always loved and had a passion for right from when he was old enough to kick a football, you wouldn’t be wrong to say it is inborn. He actually began his football career with the UD San Fernando, Youth Team first as a goalkeeper, then as a winger.

In 2000, when he was just 14-years old, he was offered an opportunity to play in the youth team of the Valencia CF, he grabbed the offer with both hands and remained at the youth wing of the club till the age of 17.

David Silva made his first professional appearance in the 2004/2005 season while he was on loan to Eibar. While with the club, he appeared in 35 league games and scored on five different occasions. The following season he was again loaned out, this time to Celta de Vigo, where he played in 34 league matches, scoring four goals.

In 2006, the promising star returned to Valencia where he was for the next two seasons. During this period, he scored 14 goals. In 2008, he extended his contract with the club for another five years, that same year, he won his first title in Spain which was – the Copa del Rey 2008.

David couldn’t play in the first three months of the 2008/2009 season following a chronic ankle injury. By mid-December, he was fit to play again. Early January 2009, Silva scored the three goals that sealed the club’s home win over Atlético Madrid. He played 19 other matches, scoring four additional goals as the club qualified for the Europa League that year.

The following season (2009–10 season), he scored what many considered his best eight career goals, that season, Valencia finished third and returned to the UEFA Champions League.

After almost a decade with Valencia CF, in 2010, he signed a four-year transfer deal with Manchester City. The deal was completed on July, 14th. Before this deal, Man-City had tried to no avail to sign on Silva and his Valencia teammate David Villa in 2008. According to reports, the club lost interest in buying them after Valencia demanded £135 million for both players.

In September 2012, he renewed his contract with the club by signing a four-year deal which saw him pledge loyalty to Etihad Stadium until 2017. Towards the end of 2017, he signed yet another contract extension that will keep him at Manchester City until 2020.

Still, with Manchester United, Silva wears shirt number 21, the same number he wore in his previous club and when playing in Spain national team. David Silva got nominated for the 2018-2019 PFA Player of the year.

International Career

David made his first appearance for Spain when he represented them in Finland at the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship, where he scored three goals. His second appearance was at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship, as an under-21 international. He scored four goals at the championship and was named one of the highest goal scorers alongside Graziano Pellè (Italian striker)

His senior international debut was in the 1–0 friendly home defeat to Romania in 2006. In 2007, he scored his first two goals for Spain in a 3–2 friendly win against Greece, it was after this friendly that he was listed among the 23 man squad that represented the country at the 2008 UEFA Euro.

Silva’s mother Eva Silva is of Japanese descent and that makes David of dual ethnicity – Spanish/Japenese. She is a full-time housewife.

The fantastic midfielder is not married but has a partner Yessica Suarez Gonzalez with whom he welcomed a son Mateo in December 2017. He later revealed sometime in January 2018 that his son had been born premature and is fighting to stay alive.
