The professional American football player Davon House is one of the stars manning the defensive backfield of the Green Bay Packers of the NFL. The cornerback was drafted by the Packers as the 131st overall selection in the NFL draft of 2011; House was the first player to be drafted by the Packers out of New Mexico State in franchise history. Born Davon Thomas House in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California on July 10, 1989, to Kelin and Sheltie House; Davon grew up along with two siblings, a sister named Vanessa and a brother named Tyreace House. Davon went to Palmdale High School in Palmdale, California where he kicked off his high school football career. Playing for the Palmdale Falcons, House led the team to clinch their fifth Golden League Championship title. Apart from football, House also participated in track and field events as well as baseball in high school. He was an All-Golden League selection. In the following year, he was named the MVP during the Next Level All-Star competition. By the end of his high school career, House enrolled at the Mexico State University where he continued his collegiate career with the Aggies.

While at the Mexico State, he was ranked sixth in the school history for having 11 receptions in a game. In his freshman year, he played thirteen games for the Aggies; thus breaking the school record with four interceptions and returning yard in his first career game. At the end of the season, House recorded a total of 37 tackles, and eight pass breakups as well as four interceptions with 171 return yards, 94 kickoff return yards, and 283 all-purpose yardages.

The following year, he featured in twelve games for the Aggies, finishing the season with an improved record of 40 tackles and two interceptions. He had his breakout season in 2009, having a forced fumble, 57 tackles, and 12 pass break-ups in 12 games. He earned an All-American honorable mention and was placed as a contender for the Jim Thorpe Award.

Professional Career and Stats

Davon House was picked by the Green Bay Packers of the NFL during the fourth round of the 2011 NFL draft. He was the 131st player to be selected overall and the 19th cornerback to be selected. Joining the Packers, House signed a four-year contract worth $2.34 million with a signing bonus of $198 thousand. He was named the sixth cornerback to Packers team by coach Mike McCarthy. Playing alongside Tramon Williams, Sam Shields, and Pat Lee, House made his professional debut on October 23, 2011, against the Minnesota Vikings. He finished his rookie season featuring in just two games with a record of one tackle.

In the 2012 season, he recorded 26 combined tackles, a sack, and five pass deflections. House suffered a shoulder injury which caused him to miss so many games in the season. The following year, the Green Bay Packers topped the NFC North League with a record of 8-7-1, making House feature in his first career playoff. In 2014, he led the Packers to finish atop the league with a 12-4 record. His career with the Jaguars ended in 2015 and House became an unrestricted free agent. While the Packers offered him a low extension deal, House signed up with the Jacksonville Jaguars who offered a higher deal. He penned a four-year contract worth $24.5 million including $10 million as a guaranteed sum.

Davon played two seasons for the Jaguars before he was released in March 2017. He equally received an immediate interest from his former team Green Bay Packers. He signed a one-year deal worth $2.80 million with the Packers. Having an impressive 2017 season, Davon House played 12 games for the Packers finishing with a record of six pass deflections, one sack, and 44 combined tackles. Additionally, he got another one-year contract extension worth $1,005 million with the Packers.

Like we aforementioned Davon House was born to Kevin and Sheltie House. He was born into an athletic family; just like Davon, his older brother Tyreace House also played baseball professionally. He was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the sixth round of the MLB draft of 2008 and he retired in 2011. Davon’s sister Vanessa, on the other hand, played softball for San Jose State University.
