A coach of a high profile sports team who manages to hold his job for more than a few years in this day and age where immediate success is craved must be abundantly talented and have been successful. In American football, the only coach who comes to mind in this regard is New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, who is the longest-tenured active head coach in the National Football League (NFL).

Since taking over at the helm of the Patriots in 2000, Belichick has won over 70% of his games, taking the team to nine Super Bowls where they have registered a record six wins. Three of the coach’s Super Bowl victories came within four years, making him the only head coach in NFL history to do so, and one of only three to win six NFL titles.

As every parent in the world will do, Bill Belichick has tried to give his children a platform whereby there could also go-ahead to leave a legacy for themselves in the same sport where their father is a legend.

What Careers Do Bill Belichick’s Children Have?

Bill Belichick has three children; sons Brian and Stephen and daughter Amanda. He had them with his ex-wife and high school sweetheart, Debby Clarke Belichick.

Like their father, and grandfather Steve Belichick who was an assistant football coach at the United States Naval Academy, all three of Bill’s children have careers in sports. His oldest son Stephen, who attended Rutgers University on scholarship, played both football and lacrosse in college. In 2012, many years after graduating from school, he got his first coaching job as his father’s team hired him as an assistant coach. He held that role for four seasons before he was named Patriots safeties coach in 2016.

In the same year Stephen became safeties coach, Bill’s second son Brian decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and brother by joining the New England Patriots organization. The younger son of the legendary American football coach, who attended Trinity College, Connecticut and played lacrosse for his school, was hired as a scouting assistant but has since risen through the ranks to be promoted to the position of coaching assistant.

Not to be left out, Bill’s only daughter Amanda has also launched a career as a coach, however, not in the sport that made the family famous. Since 2015, the Wesleyan University graduate has served as the head coach of the women’s lacrosse team of Holy Cross College, Massachusetts. Before assuming that role, she was first an assistant coach for the University of Massachusetts Amherst women’s lacrosse team before joining that of Ohio State University in the same position.

Why Did He and His Wife Get a Divorce?

Bill Belichick was previously married to Debby Clarke. The couple had begun dating in high school before tying the knot in 1977, around the same time Bill started his coaching career and had just joined the Detroit Lions as their assistant special teams’ coach.

While Bill pursued a career as a coach, Debby became a housemaker, settling at home to take care of her family and raise her kids. The couple remained together for close to three decades before it was announced that they had called it quits on their marriage.

Having first separated in 2004, Bill and Debbie’s marriage officially ended in 2006 when divorce proceedings were completed. No official statement was released in regards to the reason for their divorce, however, it was speculated that the couple parted ways due to Belichick’s affair with former New York Giants receptionist, Sharon Shenocca.

After parting ways with her husband, Debby Clarke opted to pursue a career in design, an interest she has held since she was growing up. She has since become a businesswoman and owner of an interior design firm called The Art of Tile & Stone in Massachusetts.

Has Bill Belichick Found Love Again?

Following the end of his marriage due to his alleged affair with Sharon Shenocca, Bill Belichick began a relationship with Jupiter, Florida native, Linda Holliday. The two were said to have first met in 2007, a year after his divorce, at a Florida nightclub.

Linda Holliday, who is a mother of twin daughters Ashley and Katie Hess, was a TV personality and owner of a clothing store. After the pair officially began dating each other, she assumed the position of executive director of the Bill Belichick Foundation which was launched on Bill’s 60th birthday to help underprivileged young people. From first awarding scholarships at Belichick’s alma mater, Annapolis High School, the foundation has since begun doing some work in a number of foreign countries.

In 2014, rumors began circling around that Bill and Linda had gotten engaged. This was precipitated by the fact that the coach’s girlfriend was spotted wearing a diamond ring on her left ring finger. After much speculation, Ms. Holliday simply moved the ring to her right hand in order to put the rumors to rest. This, however, has not stopped the speculation as a few people believe they might have secretly tied the knot and are not looking to discuss it with the public.
