Donald McKinley Glover Jr is a multi-talented star who is best known for the comedy-drama series “Atlanta”.
Glover is an actor, writer, comedian, record producer, and rapper who is popularly known in the music world as Childish Gambino (a Pseudonym he derived while at the college from an online name generator for the Wu-Tang Clan) with a net worth of $12 million.

The American star was born in Lancaster, California, on September 25, 1983, to a former postal worker (father) and a former daycare worker (mother). Glover who has a brother, a sister, and two adopted siblings, was raised in Stone Mountain, GA by parents who were both Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He attended Stephenson High School, the DeKalb School of the Arts in Georgia and subsequently the New York Tisch School of the Arts where he graduated in 2006 with a degree in dramatic writing.
Fresh out of college, Glover was hired by David Miner and Tina Fey to work as a writer for NBC’s series 30 Rock. After working on the show for three years (2006-2009) and making cameo appearances in some episodes, Glover’s contribution earned him the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Comedy series in 2009. After 30 Rock, Glover then starred as “Troy Barnes” in another NBC sitcom “Community” a show which aired from 2009 to 2015.
Meanwhile, as a founding member of the internet sketch comedy group DERRICK Comedy, Glover wrote and produced the group’s first film, Mystery Team in 2009. Though the movie was not a hit, it was one of the first works that brought him into the limelight.

His debut album “Camp” which had hot singles like “Freaks and Geeks”, Bonfire” and “Heartbeat” was released in 2011 and peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 chart. His second album “Because the Internet” was released in 2013. The album which featured star musicians like , Lloyd and was gold-certified. His third album “Awaken, My Love!” was released in 2016 and seems to be Glover’s most successful album yet earning him five Grammy Awards including Album Of The Year and Record Of The Year for ‘Redbone’.
While enjoying a successful music career, Glover, however, didn’t stray too far from the silver screens. As an actor, he has appeared in several films. After his feature film debut in Mystery Team (2009), he played a small role in The To Do List (2013). His other movies include; The Muppets (2009), Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014), The Lazarus Effect (2015), Magic Mike XXL (2015), The Martian (2015), and Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).
Glover has also done voice roles for television comedy series like Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III, Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man. More recently, Glover created, directed and produced his own award-winning comedy-drama series, “Atlanta” which premiered in 2016.

His album “Awaken, My Love,” was nominated for both album and urban contemporary album of the year, while “Redbone” was nominated for record of the year and best R&B song. In 2017, for Atlanta – the acclaimed music-themed series by FX, Glover won Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, as well as Golden Globes for Best Television series and Best Actor. He was also nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Comedy Series. He has also won three Writers Guild of America Awards for 30 Rock and two others for Atlanta. Glover was also nominated for Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance in 2015.
Glover is working on two big projects – a role as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo: A Star Wars Story and the voice of Simba in the remake of Disney’s Lion King. He is reportedly also working on a project to develop and produce a Deadpool animated series on FX.
