Duane Henry is an actor who has gained fame both on TV and films, having appeared in a number of productions. Nonetheless, his name became more relatable for most people because of his role of Clayton Reeves in NCIS which he started playing in 2016 and to the dismay and shock of many, he walked away from in 2018. Duane Henry’s Biography

It was on March 18, 1985, that Duane Henry was born in Birmingham, West Midlands, the U.K. He was raised in Handsworth by his single working-class mother, Sherrell, who had him when she was only 16. More so, he didn’t grow up knowing much about his father and so his mother took on various jobs to support him while growing up. Duane, who is of Jamaican descent, has three younger siblings.

Since he was a child, all he had ever wanted to be was to be an entertainer just like his mother, but instead of being a singer, as Sherrell, he chose acting.

For his education, Duane Henry attended St Francis Catholic Primary School and then he moved to St John Wall School. To prepare himself for his career as an actor, he went to Dudley College where he studied drama.

At the age of 17, instead of going to the university, he decided instead to move to London to find an agent. While there, he stayed with his aunt and worked on Oxford Street where he sold shoes and also in Leicester Square, where he worked in a cinema. His work there was cut short after he was fired for daydreaming and practicing his autograph.

In 2005, he got his first role in The Afternoon Play, and then he also appeared in Doctors. In the years that followed, he got more TV roles but it was until 2016 that he got his real break with NCIS. He made his film debut in 2006 when he appeared in the documentary film, The Road to Guantánamo. With other smaller roles to his name, he also appeared in The Dark Knight Rises in 2012.

Why Did He Leave NCIS?

In 2016, Henry joined NCIS in Season 13, playing MI-6 Officer Clayton Reeves. After only two episodes, he won the hearts of viewers, earning himself a big role in the next two seasons.

Just when fans were sure he was going to stick around for a very long time, it came as a surprise when he left the show following his character’s death in what was an unexpected twist that many were not happy with. He was shot during a robbery while he was protecting Abby () who was already on her way out of the show.

According to Duane Henry, the reason why his character had to exit the show was partly because of the death of Gary Glasberg, the showrunner on NCIS. Gary’s death left his place in the show in uncertainty and the creative team was not sure of how to move forward with his story. It was then decided that it was best to end his role in the show.
