Ebro Darden Biography, Age and Ethnicity

It was on March 17, 1975, that the radio personality was born and named Ibrahim Jamil Darden in the United States. With a black father and a Jewish mother, he was brought up in Oakland and Sacramento.

As a child, Ebro Darden attended Hebrew school before going on to attend and graduate from the California State University Sacramento. Growing up with music and loving it deeply, his career with the radio began in 1990 when he was still only but a teenager at the age of 15. As against hip-hop music that he is deeply involved with on radio today, when Darden began his career, hip-hop was one genre of music that was not played on air.

At the time, he worked in the research unit of KSFM where he was also the sales runner before he was moved to programming as an intern. Before long, Ebro was co-hosting morning and night shows for the station.

From here, he moved to KBMB also in Sacramento in 1997. There, he handled afternoon shows while he was also Programming and Music Director at the station. Before long, Ebro Darden rose to become the Operations Manager at KBMB. He was, at the same time, co-hosting a morning show at KXJM in 1991.

Where the on-air personality would come to make a name for himself, however, was with Hot 97. He became Music Director for WQHT in 2003 and by 2007, he had risen to the position of Program Director for the station. In the years that followed, he worked with different co-hosts on Hot 97 including and Cipha Sounds.

In addition to Hot 97, Ebro Darden also works on Beats 1. He equally works on the Apple Music Internet Radio as one of its anchor DJs.

Through the years, while he has grown to become a big voice on radio, Darden has also been involved in some feuds with various celebrities including Power 105.1’s Charlamagne Tha God whom he had issues with for some time. Nonetheless, he came out to say there was nothing between them as what he was doing was only for fun.

Ebro also had feuds with other stars like 50 Cent who made a tweet that the OAP now needed security and that he was banned from New York City nightlife. The rapper also added that Ebro would be punched in the face shortly. The problem between the two was as a result of the comments made by Ebro on air as to why 50 was banned from Hot 97 following some past events. After the arrest of Tekashi 69, Fifty accused the radio DJ of being an NYPD informant after he read a letter he got from a source in the police. Ebro replied by asking the rapper how come everyone around him gets into trouble but he doesn’t seem to get into any.

With all these, Ebro is known for his strong opinions which he doesn’t get scared of sharing as well as his deep knowledge of the world of hip-hop.

Wife, Daughter, and Girlfriend

Not necessarily the man with so much about him known to the public, Darden is known to be married to his former girlfriend, Stephanie Marie.

There is not much about their relationship or even their marriage that is known. What is known, however, is that his union with his wife has been blessed with a daughter, Issa Darden. Issa was delivered in 2014 with the help of the Host 97 radio veteran in the bathroom of his home.
