His father, Noel, worked as a teacher in a music class while his mother, Donna, was the Director of a nursery school in New York City.

He studied at the Elisabeth Irwin High School and during his days in high school, he was involved in several theatrical play production of the school one of which was the play The Threepenny Opera in which he was cast as Mr. Peachum.

Upon his completion of high school in 2008, he was given a full-time scholarship to study Arts at the University of Arts, Philadelphia, USA.

As stated earlier, Emory Cohen began his professional acting career in the year 2008, when he starred in the movie Afterschool, and in that same year, the movie was premiered in Cannes Film Festival.
