Eric Decker is a professional American football player and a reality TV star. He plays in the wide receiver position in the National Football League (NFL). Prior to joining the NFL, Decker played as a two-sport college athlete at the University of Minnesota where he played both baseball and football. He eventually settled for football and was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2010 NFL Draft by NFL side Denver Broncos.

Eric Decker is also pretty famous for starring in the reality TV series “Eric & Jessie: Game On” alongside his wife Jessie James who is a country music singer.

Eric Decker’s Bio, Age

Eric Thomas Decker was born on March 15, 1987, in Cold Spring, Minnesota. He had his high school education at Rocori High School in Cold Spring, Minnesota graduating in 2005. As a teenager, Decker was a three-sport athlete playing baseball, football, and basketball and he performed excellently in all three sports. He was named the MVP of his high school football team for 2 consecutive years. He was once named the All-Area Boys Basketball Player of the Year by Minnesota-based Times Media. Eric Decker is widely considered one of the greatest athletes to have come out of Central Minnesota.

During his college career at the University of Minnesota, the multi-talented youngster played for the school’s football team – Minnesota Twins – as well as the Minnesota baseball team. Decker was drafted twice in the MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers (2008) and the Minnesota Twins (2009). He entered for the 2010 NFL Draft where he was selected by the Denver Broncos as the 87th overall Draft in the 3rd round of the draft. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree having majored in business and marketing.

Decker signed a 4-year deal with the Broncos in July 2010. Among several other highlights of his 4-year stint, Eric Decker was on the Broncos’ starting lineup against the Seahawks at Super Bowl XLVIII. At the expiration of his contract with the Denver Broncos, Eric Decker signed a 5-year deal with the New York Jets in March 2014. The talented wide receiver put up a good performance with the Jets, however, his spell with the club ended in June 2017, after only 3 seasons. This was quickly followed by a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans after which he became a free agent.

Family, Parents

Eric Decker’s parents are Susan ‘Sue’ Meyer (née Weber) and Thomas Charles Decker. Both of his parents have German ancestry and theirs was a middle-class family. He was raised alongside one sibling, an older sister named Sarah. His father worked as a facilities manager and his mother worked as a sales supervisor at a glass manufacturing company. However, his parents’ marriage ended in a divorce when he was in 2nd grade.

Even though divorced, Eric Decker’s parents worked together to support their multitalented boy wonder. They traveled to all of his games as a three-sport high school athlete. His sister, Sarah Decker is also an athlete. She was a track and cross country runner at the University of Colombia. Following his Super Bowl XLVIII outing in 2014, February 11 has been designated as “Eric Decker Day” in his hometown of Cold Spring.

Eric Decker is currently married to country pop singer-songwriter Jessie James. The couple tied the knot on June 22, 2013, in Colorado. They have 3 children together. They welcomed their first child on March 18, 2014, a daughter named Vivianne Rose Decker. Their second child, a son named Eric Thomas Decker II was born on September 3, 2015. The couple’s third child, a son named Forrest Bradley Decker was born on March 31, 2018.

In addition to her blossoming career as a country music crooner, Jessie James Decker is also an entrepreneur. She has launched her own brand of sunglasses, cosmetics, fragrance as well as a clothing line. The Deckers have featured in the E! reality show Eric & Jessie: Game On which premiered in September 2013. The show stopped in April 2014 after 2 seasons, however, it returned for a 3rd season in September 2017.
