The name Gary Barlow isn’t strange to the media and music industry. The media icon is a British singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor: most famous for being the leader of the broadly popular British pop band Take That, and judge of the talent shows, The X Factor UK and Let It Shine.

Gary Barlow was born on January 20, 1971, in the market town of Frodsham, Cheshire, England, to Colin Barlow (father) and Marjorie Barlow (mother). The second child of the family, he has a brother called Ian Barlow.

He attended Weaver Vale Primary School and enrolled at the Frodsham High School afterward – in 1982 precisely.

Gary is said to have been intrigued by music from a relatively young age: training himself in all kinds of pianos, keyboards and music production at the age of 10, and entering a Christmas song competition show in BBC’s Pebble Mill at One at the age of 15.

The competition Gary entered got him an invitation to London’s West Heath Studios to record his song. There, he was inspired to perform on the northern club circuit, singing cover versions and his own songs, and later earning his first performance in Wales at the Connah’s Quay Labour Club for £18 per performance on Saturday evenings.

From then on, Gary started touring and performing songs in England before being spotted by Nigel Martin-Smith: a casting agent who hired him to form a boy band in 1989 named, “Take That”.

Nigel decided to use Barlow as the lead singer of the band after being impressed by his vocals and songwriting skills that included a self-written material – an early demo tape of Barlow’s “A Million Love Songs”.

Take That’s debut album was released in 1992 entitled Take That & Party which began the success stories of Gary Barlow with the band as they continued to reach the peak after releasing Everything Changes and Nobody Else.

Gary then went solo in 1996 when the band decided to go on break. He sang ‘Love Won’t Wait’ and ‘Forever Love’; both being number one singles in the UK. His album, Open Road, was also a chart-topper. Other albums and singles include top hits like The Circus Progress, ‘How Deep Are Your Love‘, ‘Patience’ and much more.

One of Britain’s most successful songwriters, Gary has written fourteen number one singles and twenty-four top 10 hits; and as a solo artist, he has had three number one singles, six singles that made the top 10 list, and two number one albums. He has additionally had seventeen top 5 hits, twelve number one singles and seven number one albums with Take That.
