Gavin Mcinnes is a Canadian entrepreneur, columnist, writer, actor, comedian and commentator. He is known to have strong views and opinions on some touchy topics like sexuality and feminism. His views and opinions have slowly seen him become more of a public enemy. Gavin is a highly controversial individual who describes himself as a “western chauvinist” and an ardent propagator of the rightwing ideology.

Mcinnes has also been referred to as a sexist, racist, anti-Semitic, and conservator by different factions of the American public. He is one of the few public supporters of President Donald Trump’s Muslim travel ban and has been considered the godfather of “hipsterdom”. He is utterly inclined to his beliefs and willing to go on an all-out social media assault on anyone who tries to challenge them.


Gavin Mcinnes was born on July 17, 1970, in Hitchin, England, UK, to Loraine and James McInnes. Although he was born in England, he is actually of Scottish descent as both his parents are from Scotland. After spending some time in the UK, his parents decided to relocate to Canada in search of better opportunities. At the time of the move, Gavin was only 4 years old. He would go on to get his high school diploma from Earl of March Secondary School, Ottawa and also join an Ottawa based punk band named Anal Chinook.


Despite his flair for music, Gavin would go on to get two different degrees from two different Universities. He got his first degree in English Literature from Carleton University and his second degree in Business Administration from the Concordia University.


In 1994, Gavin Mcinnes together with Shane Smith and Suroosh Alvi founded Vice, a magazine, and website that prints articles on arts and culture. Although Vice was founded in Montreal, Canada, It is currently based in New York. The magazine later expanded into a record label and film production company holistically referred to as Vice Media. Gavin had to relocate from Canada to the US, New York precisely, to be able to make this expansion work. Unlike Shane and Suroosh, Gavin has contributed to some written content for Vice. He has authored articles and books like The VICE Guide to Happiness, with tips on how to live a happy life. The VICE Guide to Picking Up Chicks, Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll were also authored by Gavin Mcinnes. They all offer tips on how to enjoy the thrills of sex, drugs, and Rock Roll.

Gavin Mcinnes further did some projects on the Vice Dos and Don’ts: 10 Years of VICE Magazine’s Street Fashion Critiques. Mcinnes was also featured in The Vice Guide to Travel alongside Hollywood comedian David Cross. The pair travelled to China along with Shane Smith, Trace Crutchfield, Derrick Beckles, David Cloe and in 2006. Their trip saw them exploring dangerously remote locations and the adventure was filmed and aired on for public viewing. The show was directed by Eddy Moretti and Shane Smith. It aired for 15 episodes with very good ratings.

Career After Vice

Two years after being featured on The Vice Guide to Travel documentary, Gavin Mcinnes started up the ultimate hipster lifestyle website, He further co-establish an advertising agency known as Rooster, authored a book titled How to Piss in Public, directed a documentary on his standup comedy tour titled: The Brotherhood of the Travelling Rants. Gavin Mcinnes eventually parted ways with Vice in 2013. He took an indefinite leave of absence from the position of the chief creative officer which he held at Rooster as a result of a controversial online publication he made antagonizing the transgender community of the United States of America.

Acting Career

Over the years, Gavin McInnes has accrued some filmography credits, they include an episode of Kenny vs Spenny; a Canadian TV show involving several competitions for contestants in 2006. In the show, he was a guest judge. He also featured in two comic short films titled Sophie Can Walk in 2008 and Asshole in 2009, in which he was cast as himself.

In 2010, he featured in A Million in the Morning; a documentary film which he hosted. He also played a role in Soul Quest Overdrive (2010), an animated TV series where he played the role of Mick which aired on Cartoon Network. In 2013, he was in Chadd Harbold’s American comedy How to Be a Man, where he starred as Mark McCarthy. Gavin was cast as Scott in the American-French science fiction titled Creative Control (2015). That same year, he also played a minor role of a record producer in Robert Edward’s One More Time. In 2016, he was a comedian in the American romantic drama titled Long Nights Short Mornings.

Gavin also has a flourishing YouTube channel with a throng of subscribers. He uses the platform to propagate his patriarchal and conservative opinions.

Gavin Mcinnes is married to Emily Jendrisak who is a Manhattan-based publicist and consultant. She is a member of the Ho-Chunk tribe of the Native Americans which comprises of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois. Mcinnes has been married to his wife since 2005, and they have three children together.


McInnes is publicly homophobic and transphobic. With that being said, it is safe to say that the chances of him being gay are very slim. Furthermore, considering the fact that Gavin McInnes has been happily married for over 13 years with practically no public marital issues, I think he is in the clear in terms of homosexual suspicions.
