Nope! That’s not Jennifer Lawrence but her doppelganger Haley Bennett, who like Jen, is blonde and most importantly equally talented at acting.
Bennet may seem like a fresh face, but she has been around in the entertainment industry for over a decade, yup! that’s no typo… She made her acting debut in 2007 romantic comedy film Music and Lyrics. Read on to discover all there is to know about Haley Bennet.
Haley Bennett Bio, Family
She is known professionally as Haley Bennet, however, Haley was born as Haley Loraine Keeling on January 7, 1988, in Fort Myers, Florida and raised in Naples, Florida. She was born to Leilani (née Bennett Dorsey) and Ronald Keeling who became single parents after her birth. Since her parents weren’t together, Haley had to split her time growing up partly with mom and partly with dad.
As she explained to , Haley got the best of both worlds. Her passion for arts was probably ignited by her artistic mom, from whom we guess she also learned how to bake. Haley is very passionate about baking and has professional cooking as a backup plan should in case acting ever fails, but from the look of things, that is highly unlikely.
Her dad did a lot to dilute her feminity by turning her into a Tomboy, her peak tomboyish days, she explained, was in her 6th or 7th grade. Her time with dad began from her teenage years when she relocated to the woods of Stow in Ohio.
Haley learned to hunt and fish from her dad. She was able to handle a gun and dress a deer at a really early age. In an interview with Interview magazine, Haley recalled those moments describing them as traumatic.
What other tomboy things did she do? She tried sports and was bad at it, drove four-wheelers, one of which she flipped at a time. Haley wasn’t allowed to wear any makeup or wear certain clothes and having boyfriends was a no-no!
While that may seem somewhat unbearable, Haley did have a lot of fun in Ohio where her extended family members including grannies, aunties, uncles, and cousins also lived.
While in Stow, Haley attended Stow-Munroe Falls High School where she featured in school plays, something she had begun doing since the age of 10. In addition to acting Haley also sang in school and church choirs.
These two talents were key to bringing her her first acting role in 2007’s music and Lyrics. A huge role for a 19-year-old who was starting out in Hollywood. The film where Haley sang most of the soundtracks was a huge hit grossing about $150 million from a $40 million budget. This was followed by a record deal with 550 Music/NuSound Records, but Haley never became a professional singer.
While it was expected that Haley would immediately become something of a blockbuster staple, her career entered into a rather prolonged slow phase.
Like is the case with most actors, Haley ventured into the dark after her debut role. “I got lost, I got broke. I got heartbroken by the roles I’d never have a chance to play because you know how it is,” she said about those dark times.
However, Haley managed to remain undeterred as she continued to push on, taking up roles in films that would be forgotten as quickly as they hit theaters.
“But I kept at it. What else was I going to do?” she said.
Some of her post Music and Lyrics credits included College (2008) and The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008) which in addition to Music and Lyrics was part of a three-film deal she had signed with Warner Bros.
She had roles in Marley & Me (2008), The Hole (2010), Kaboom (2010), Arcadia Lost (2010), Deep Powder (2013) and more.
Haley finally began to turn heads in mid-2016. Her encounter with Antoine Fuqua, introduced to her by filmmaker Terrence Malick turned out to be the big thing she had waited a decade for. Fuqua got her a role in his 2014 film The Equalizer, impressed, he gave her another one in “The Magnificent Seven,” which also co-starred big names like , Ethan Hawke, and .
Haley went on to solidify her presence in the mainstream with critically acclaimed roles in The Girl on the Train, Rules Don’t Apply, and Thank You for Your Service. She is well on her way to becoming a household name in Hollywood.
She became the new face of luxury Paris fashion Maison in early 2018.
Husband
Haley has been in a number of relationships known to the media, however, as of this writing, she is unmarried. Her first relationship known to the media was with actor Rick Malambri. The relationship is believed to have lasted for just a year from 2008 to 2009. She was then linked with another actor Zach Cregger in 2010. Haley is said to have entered into a relationship with filmmaker Joe Wright in early 2018.
