The World Boxing Hall of Fame (WBHF) and the International Boxing Hall of Fame (IBHOF) are the two internationally recognized establishments that acknowledge and honor the contributions of boxers and other individuals to the combat sport. Some inaugural inductees are Muhammad Ali, Joe Loius, and Ezzard Charles. These ones fought their way through to the top. Disregarding the veterans, several newbies in the profession are currently fighting to hopefully get their names inscribed in the hall of fame as well and Ryan Garcia is one of them.

Without a doubt, Ryan is one of the finest professional boxers around with a lot of promise and the fact that so far, he has never lost a single match since his debut in 2016 could as well be a pointer to this.

At What Age Did Ryan Garcia Start Boxing?

Ryan Garcia is an American of Mexican descent born to Henry and Lisa Garcia on the 8th of August 1998. His dad once had a dream of being a boxer (like his brother, Sergio Garcia) but decided otherwise and became a trainer instead. He began training Ryan as early as age 7 and also trained his younger son, Sean Garcia and Ryan’s best friend, Lawrence The Dawg King – a middleweight professional.

Ryan now fights under the super featherweight division. He was signed up by the Golden Boy Promotions under the management of Oscar De La Hoya in 2016 and made his professional debut in the same year on the 9th of June, barely two months before his 18th birthday. He debuted in a fight against Edgar Meza which he won in the first round following a technical knockout (TKO). The fight was held at Tijuana, Baja, California and prior to this time, he made a 215-15 boxing record during his career as an amateur. After his first professional fight, Ryan nicknamed The Flash and Kingry, fought and won six more fights in 2016, the last of which took place at The Forum, Inglewood, California, on December 17.

The Flash began the following year with a fight against Devon Jonnes on Feb 3, 2017, at Belasco Theater, Los Angeles, California, U.S, and as was the case with all of his previous fights, the match ended in his favor with an 8-0 knockout (KO) victory. He had two more fights before winning his first vacant WBC-NABF Junior super featherweight title on the 15th of September 2017 in a fight against Miguel Carrizoza whom he knocked out in less than 30 seconds. Ryan achieved this feat just a week after he turned 19.

In his next two boxing matches on November 2, 2017, and March 22, 2018, the 5 feet 11 inches (178 cm) tall boxer fought against Cesar Alan Valenzuela and Fernando Vargas Parra respectively and won, retaining his WBC-NABF Junior super featherweight title. On the 1st of September 2018, he fought with Carlos Morales at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California and came out victorious after the 10th round by major decision. Although he won, the match was described by many as lackluster — it didn’t meet up to the hype it had created.

He recorded his 17th straight win on December 15, 2018, in a match against Braulio Rodriguez which ended in a 17-0 knockout and followed it up with a TKO victory against Jose Lopez on March 30, 2019, in a match which held at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino, Indio, California, U.S. On November 2, 2019, Ryan won both the WBO–NABO and vacant WBC Silver lightweight title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Paradise, Nevada, U.S. by defeating Romero Duno 19-0. By February 14, 2020, in a match against Francisco Fonseca which will take place at Honda Center, Anaheim, California, U.S, Ryan will defend his WBO–NABO and WBC Silver lightweight titles which his mark his 20th professional fight.

The Victorville, California-born boxer is based in Los Angeles and is currently rated as the 24th of 1478 in the world and 4th of 174 in the USA. Of his 19 matches, 16 were won by knockouts and thus far, he has not lost any fight. The Flash has 14 different national titles under his belt. He came first in the Silver Gloves, National Pals, Junior Golden Gloves, and even Junior Olympics. He also finished second at the 2014 Junior Worlds event. The boxer and his brother continue to enjoy amazing support from both their mother and father who happen to be USA (Amateur) Boxing officials.

What Is Ryan’s Earning Power And How Does He Spend His Money?

Ryan definitely has a lot to work to do if he must remain undefeated and fulfill his dream of being an Olympian. Nevertheless, there is no denying that his boxing endeavor has enriched him as it is common knowledge that professional boxers earn an impressive salary which often runs into millions of dollars per annum. Considering the fact that Ryan Garcia has not been in the professional boxing scene for too long, his salary and net worth are not expected to equal that of other boxers who have been there before him.

Several figures have been quoted as the overall worth of his wealth but we haven’t been able to substantiate any of them. However, judging by the various reports, it can be deduced that the young boxer’s net worth is nothing less than half a million dollars as of 2019 while his salary per year is about $50,000. This is possibly true because according to a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, boxers earn an average annual salary of about $51,370.

As is often the case, boxers make money from other sources apart from their basic salary and these include pay from matches as well as bonuses. This makes it possible for Ryan to live a comfortable life and even have a collection of cars as shown in a photo he once posted online. His cars include an Audi RS7 which costs around $113,900 and according to reports, assets owned by The Flash are valued at a total of more than $300,000.

Not long ago, the 19-time winner got into a contract with WME and its corporate sibling,  IMG Models. Thus, the company will now represent him in businesses such as television,  film, endorsements, and every other venture outside sport. Currently, plans are already on to film a docuseries about Ryan’s family and his life in and outside the ring.
