Growing up, he had his high school education at Cretin-Derham Hall High School where he was an exceptional baseball player, at this same time, the lad tried his hands on acting and equally found himself to be gifted with a talent of mimicking characters in school plays. Dale, after high school, proceeded to St. Mary’s University in Winona, Minnesota to further explore his craving for acting as a Stage and Theatre student. He didn’t see the end of his college days at St. Mary’s, however, as he later enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Madison where he finally graduated in the year 2000 with a Bachelor degree in Film.

Out of college, Ian had no time to dilly-dally while waiting for a major role on stage, he started off as a carpenter, building stages and sets and at the same time going for auditions to land acting roles. He didn’t have to do this for long as he soon made his screen debut on Fastlane in 2002 and after this came another role in The Break in 2003. The years that followed saw the talented actor star in shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, 24, Angel, JAG Criminal Minds, Trauma and many others.

His big role in a film came with Mr. 3000, a 2004 film where Ian Anthony Dale played the character of Fukuda a Japanese pitcher. His role in the film saw him act alongside Chris Noth, , and . Next came a role in American comedy-drama film The Bucket List in 2007 where he acted as an instructor to ‘s and ‘s characters. There was no questioning at this point whether or not Ian was good at what he does on the screen. The actor continued with more big screen works like Mortal Kombat: Rebirth (2010) as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion a character much loved by fans of the combat film, Anders in XOXO (2016) and Ben Jacobs in Wakefield (2017).

Outside of the films and television series he has been on, Ian Anthony Dale has featured in 5 episodes of the web series of Mortal Kombat: Legacy as Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion which ran from 2011 to 2013. Ian was born to Jack and Olga Dale. His father is of French and English descent while his mother is a Japanese immigrant to the United States. It has not been revealed how they met but we know that Ian’s father, Jack Dale, was an Ice Hockey player who played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He also played for the US national ice hockey team and made the Winter Olympic team of 1968. Aside from Ian, they had four other children in their family which comprised of three boys and one girl.

 

The actor is married to Nicole Garippo, they had their wedding ceremony in Los Angeles in October 2016 having known each other and dated for quite some time. Their union has been strong ever since with no rumours of divorce. They are parents to a baby girl who is still in her infancy.
