1. Ingrid Michaelson was Born and Raised in New York City

The amazing singer was born Ingrid Ellen Michaelson in New York City on December 8, 1979. She was born to Swedish-American parents Carl Michaelson and his wife Elizabeth Egbert. Her father is a famous classical music composer who also worked as a manager of copyrights for the music publishing company called Carl Fischer Music; while her mother is a sculptor.

2. She Took Up Piano at the Age of Four

Born into an artistic family, Ingrid developed a keen interest in theater from a very young age. She started receiving piano lessons when she was four and at seven, she went to Third Street Music School where she met a vocal coach Elizabeth McCullough. McCullough coached Ingrid through her high school, teaching her the basics of music. She graduated from Staten Island Technical High School. While she was there, she participated in various theater productions organized by her school.

3. Michaelson has a Degree in Theatre

Soon after her graduation from high school, Ingrid Michaelson enrolled at Binghamton University where she got a bachelor’s degree in theater. During her days in college, Ingrid was a member of Binghamtonics, an acapella music group, as well as an improv comedy troupe called Pappy Parker Players. She equally worked at repertory theater under the guidance of Sue Peters.

Upon graduation from Binghamton University, Ingrid Michaelson began her music career in 2005. She released her first studio album titled Slow the Rain on January 10, 2005, and the album recorded moderate commercial success. She used the MySpace online community to promote her songs. Subsequently, she released her second album titled Girls and Boys in 2006. She also signed up with a record label called Original Signal Recordings.

Her second album reached No 63 on the Billboard music charts and received wide acclaim from critics. Ingrid and Greg Laswell began their relationship many years ago and in 2011, they decided to walk down the aisle. Their wedding was held in Maine on August 10, 2011, and was attended by close friends and family members. Just like Ingrid, Laswell is also an American musician, producer, and recording engineer from San Diego, California. He has released seven studio albums and has collaborated with Ingrid on many of his albums including Take A Bow and Landline, among others.

However, after three years of successful marriage, the amazing couple announced their unanimous decision to split in February 2015. Their divorce process was finalized later that year and they went their separate ways. While there’s no news of Laswell’s subsequent relationships, Ingrid Michaelson went on to start another relationship with an American actor, Will Chase in late 2015. Chase is best known for his brilliant performance on ABC’s Nashville. He hails from Frankfurt, Kentucky and he graduated from Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Prior to their relationship, Chase was previously married to actress Stephanie Gibson from 2009 to 2012. He also had two daughters with Lori Chase whom he married from 1998 to 2008.

She portrayed the role of Sonya Rostova in the Broadway musical titled Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 from July to August 2017.
