Kordell Stewart who is also popularly known as “Slash,” is an ex-American football player who played for 11 years as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). Most of his early years as a player was recorded while he was a student at the University of Colorado. After his impressive years of collegiate football, he got drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1995 NFL draft as the 60th selection. Kordell Stewart – Bio, Age

Kordell Stewart was born in Marrero, Louisiana, USA on the 16th of October 1972. He is an African American man from the family of Robert Stewart Senior and Florence Stewart which also includes his brother named Robert Stewart Junior. As a kid, Kordell schooled at John Ehret High school and later on got a scholarship to attend the University of Colorado.

Under coach McCartney, Bill Kordell set a lot of records in the Buffaloes especially, with most passes completed, yards and touchdown. In 1992 and 1994, he guided the Buffaloes to a match of top-10 regular-season finishes. He was one of the best quarterbacks in the school’s history, of which his 38 rushing touchdowns placed him at the top. Moreso, in 1995, The NFL Network placed him sixth on its list of the ten most skillful players in NFL history. He was then drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers the same year as the 60th pick.

As starting quarterback, Stewart led the Steelers to a 13–3 regular-season record and an overall in the AFC playoffs under the watch of new Quater Backs coach Clements Tom and Mularkey Mike as new offensive coordinator. In 2002, though Kordell Stewart began the season as the Steelers starting quarterback, he was later signed with the Chicago Bears as a free agent where he played the starter position.

In 2003, he was substituted by Chris Chandler due to his many poor performances but later he was brought back as a starter after Chandler failed to also measure up to his performances. After the bears couldn’t qualify for the playoffs, Kordell was suspended in favor of rookie, Rex Grossman. As a result, he left the Bears and joined the Ravens in 2004. Whilst there, he was assigned to play an assisting role to Kyle Boller. Kordell was successful with the Ravens earning himself an NFL Special Teams Player of the Week. After this, he went off the grid from active football playing but later resurfaced on the 29th of April 2008, during an interview on the WCNN 680 The Fan.

In the interview, Kordell showed interest in going back to the National Football League. In January 2009, he was invited to be an analyst on ESPN’s College Football Live, then later again in July 2009 he was invited to come on a show which discussed the form of Colorado athletics. On May 30, 2012, Kordell Stewart announced that he was officially retiring from the NFL.
