Paulo Costanzo is one of those actors who fell in love with the craft from the very first time they experienced it. He caught the acting bug from his mother and has not been able to let go since then. He started performing in high school and further cut his thespian teeth in Toronto theater before moving on to professional roles.

The Canadian actor is popular for his phenomenal roles both on the big and small screens among which are Rubin Carver in Road Trip (2000), Michael Tribbiani in the sitcom Joey, Evan R. Lawson in the series Royal Pains, and Lyor Boone in the political drama Designated Survivor.

The Canadian actor is the son of a singer-songwriter mother and an artist father. Of Italian and Jewish descent, he was born and raised in Brampton, Ontario on the 21st day of September 1978.

With the support of his parents, he entered an audition for the theatre program in his high school and subsequently took part in a production of West Side Story where he played Tony.

Paulo Constanzo attended Mayfield Secondary School for the Arts before moving on to Balmoral Senior Public School, Brampton.

Afterward, he studied Theatre for a year at Ryerson University during which he also started to get roles on television and film roles in Toronto. As such, he dropped out to pursue an acting career.

He was cast in his first TV role in the television film, The Don’s Analyst as Young Vito in 1997. Shortly after, he landed his first major role in another made for television film, Rescuers: Stories of Courage: Two Couples where he portrayed a Jewish teen in hiding from the Nazis in 1939 Belgium, opposite, and Alfred Molina.

That same year, in 1998, he also appeared in a Disney TV film, My Date with the President’s Daughter as Arthur, and in a recurring role as the quirky alien Aximili-Esgarrouth-Isthil on Nickelodeon’s Animorphs through the two seasons of the series aired.

Then, he featured in minor roles in the series Seasons of Love and Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal in 1999 before he was cast in his first movie role in 2000. Constanzo starred as Rubin Carver in the comedy film Road Trip.

He took on more film roles, playing majorly supporting roles in works like Josie and the Pussycats, Gypsy 83 both in 2001, 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002), and starred opposite in Scorched (2003) and A Problem with Fear (2003) in a lead role.

He made a comeback to the small screen in 2004 as the kid genius Michael Tribbiani in the NBC sitcom Joey until 2006 opposite.

In 2004, he worked behind the scene in a production role, as well as starred in The Tao of Pong. Paulo Costanzo headlined Everything’s Gone Green in 2006 and also featured in a voice role in Dr. Dolittle 3 as well as in the comedy crime film, Puff, Puff, Pass.

In 2008, he featured in the cult horror hit, Splinter and in the television film The More Things Change. He starred opposite, and in A Beginner’s Guide to Endings in 2010.

From 2009 to 2016, he took up the lead role in the American comedy-drama television, Royal Pains as Evan R. Lawson co-starring Mark Feuerstein as his younger brother. Besides appearing in the series, he also doubled as an episode director.

Paulo Costanzo landed the role of Gary in the 2013 comedy film How to Be a Man and the next year, he played Shane Wyeth in an episode of the police procedural crime drama series, Criminal Minds.

He recurred as Shed Garvey in the science fiction series The Expanse in 2015 before landing the critical role of Ray Halle in HBO’s Emmy-winning drama The Night Of (2016).

The following year, Costanzo got a spot opposite and in the short film Laboratory Conditions before snagging the role of one of the main characters, Lyor Boone in the ABC political drama Designated Survivor, opposite.
