Is Shaun King White or Black? Bio

The prolific activist was born as Jeffery Shaun King on the 17th day of September 1979 in Franklin County of Kentucky, in the United States. He was born to an American mother and African-American father. There has been a lot of controversy going on based on his ethnicity because of his skin color. However, his mother made him believe that his father is a light-skinned black man while he was growing up. Without a doubt, King is biracial and he possesses an American nationality.

Growing up, King was a bright kid and he completed his basic education at the Huntertown Elementary School while he also attended Woodford County High School. Soon after his graduation, Shaun King enrolled at Morehouse College where he majored in history. While he was there, King was awarded the Scholar Award for his academic excellence. One of their projects involved building an orphanage in Bonneau, Haiti. Amazingly, TwitChange.com was honored with the Mashable Award as the Most Creative Social Good Campaign.

The activist resigned from his church in 2012 citing issues of stress and disillusionment as the reason for his actions. After his resignation, he founded another charity site called HopeMob.org alongside Chad Kellough. Through the site, Shaun and his partner were able to raise the money they used to build their platform on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

More so, Shaun along with Vicent Tuscano and Ray Lee were given US patent rights in 2014 which enabled them to create a subscription-based social media platform called @Upfront. The following year, he authored his first book titled The Power of 100. He also joined the New York Daily News as a senior justice writer in the same year but left in 2017.
