Jack Butland is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for the England national team. After repping England on all 5 age group levels, Butland was promoted to the senior team in 2012. Hs highest achievement for his national side came in 2018 when he was named in the 23-man squad to rep the country at the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Bio

Butland was born on the 10th of March 1993 and his birthplace is Bristol in England but was raised in nearby Clevedon by his parents where he attended the Yeo Moor Primary School and the Clevedon Community School. His football career began when he started playing for neighborhood club Clevedon United before moving to the Jamie Shore Academy which was based in Bristol City.

Butland soon joined Birmingham on a two-year schoolboy scholarship in 2007 but left the club’s Youth Academy in 2009. He was still aged 17 when he made his debut for the reserve team before signing his first professional contract with two and half year duration with Birmingham City. Prior to making his debut for the senior team, Jack impressed in the youth setup, so much so that he was named Birmingham’s City Young Player of the Year at the end of the 2009-10 season.

His very promising footballing career was threatened when he broke his Arm in October 2010 with the England international requiring extensive surgery. He bounced back quickly showing great mental strength and by April he was back playing football.

Jack broke into the first team at the football club in the 2011-12 season and was handed a squad number before the Premier League match against Wolves. He was sent out on Loan to League Two club Cheltenham Town for just a month to get some much needed first team experience.

Butland went straight into the first team showing his impressive array of talents, so impressive that he signed a new contract at Birmingham to expire in 2015 while still on loan. He was so impressive on the one month loan that Cheltenham had to resign him on a youth loan on February 2010 till the end of the season. Butland helped his loan team to gain automatic promotion, keeping numerous clean sheets.

Finally, after months on loan, he made his debut for Birmingham on the back of his full England international debut. Butland had his international breakthrough in September 2011 when he made an appearance for England under -21 team.

After he left Birmingham, Butland joined the Premier club Stoke City on the 31st of January 2014 although he returned to Birmingham to see out the remainder of the season. He joined for an Initial £3.3 million sum which could rise to £3.5 million.

After his Loan at Birmingham City, Jack came back to see himself third choice behind Asmir Begovic and Thomas Sorensen and had to go back on loan, this time to Championship side Barnsley on a three-month emergency loan.

After a successful time at Barnsley, Butland made his debut after first-choice goalkeeper whilst Asmir Begovic was injured. Butland had to replace 2nd choice Thomas Sorensen at halftime in a match against Everton, the game ended 1-1. After months of understudy, Butland finally made his first full Premier League debut in a match against Liverpool with the score ending 5-3 in defeat.

His promising career at Stoke hit an all-time low in 2017/2018 season when Butland played 36 times out of a possible 38 without being able to help his club avoid the relegation drop. On the final day when relegation was confirmed, Butland was seen visibly distraught, crying and criticizing the clubs transfer policy calling it “farcical”.

For a period of about 9 nine years, from 2007 to 2016, Jack Butland was in a relationship with Steph Parsons whom he met in school. Parson works as a sports therapist.

They had begun dating when Butland was just 14 years old. Their relationship seemed perfect until the unexpected happened in 2016. after discovering that Butland had been cheating on him with an Emirate air hostess named Annabel Peyton.

Butland had met Anabel in early 2016 when his team Stoke City was away on a mid-season holiday trip to Dubai. Their relationship went on for months before Parsons found out in April 2016. Butland made his relationship with Anabel public in June 2016 when he attended a Cannes gala night with her.
