Jana is one person who doesn’t really seem to enjoy being under the spotlight. She hardly shares anything about her personal life. Despite being married to a popular figure, she has impressively managed to put a boundary between the media and her private life.

Jana is one of those women who are largely recognised by their husband’s fame. She is widely known as being the wife of famous African-American political activist and television personality,

Jana comes from a political home, she is one of six children of William Alton Carter III and Sybill Spire. The names of her five siblings include William Carter, Marble Carter, Kim Carter, Mandy Carter and Earl Carter. Jana was a student of UC Berkeley’s School of Law and have engaged herself in several political campaigns, thanks to her father’s political career.

Even while at school, Jana worked as the Director of Search for Common Ground’s USA Racial Healing Program from where she gained much popularity and when she was done with her studies, she engaged herself in various significant roles including as a journalist and as an activist, which helped her earn some personal income.

Currently, Jana Carter is involved in several entrepreneurship schemes. She is a board member of the Garden Church. She is the owner of Kidpacking, producer and director of operations at Magic Labs Media. Jana has also shown signs of getting deeper into politics like her husband, being active in social programs.

 Family

Jana is closely related to Jimmy Carter, USA’s 39th President. Her late father, Billy, was a politician, farmer and renowned businessman- a career he possibly inherited from his father James Earl Carter Sr. who was a renowned businessman, farmer, and legislator.

Jana’s Grandmother was a popular nurse in Georgia who served as a Peace Corps volunteer in India. She died of breast cancer shortly after Jimmy left office in January 1981.

Jana’s father also contested for Mayor of Plains, Georgia but he lost to his opponent with a few votes. He later left politics and got other jobs while his brother was busy with his political career. He passed away at age 51 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1987.

Her husband Anthony Lapel Jones is an American commentator, author and non-practising attorney of The United States. He and his twin sister Angela were born on September 20, 1968, a native of Tennessee.

Anthony’s mother Lovetha Jean, was a high school teacher, and his father, Willie Anthony Jones, was a principal at a middle school, his grandfather was a Christian Methodist Episcopal church leader. He is an award-winning pioneer in human rights and clean energy economy. He is the president and co-founder of Dream Corps, a nonprofit organisation.

Anthony authored two New York Times bestsellers – The green collar economy and Rebuild the dream. He served as former President special adviser for green jobs. He was announced as co-host for a show in June 2013 alongside Newt Gingrich, Stephanie Cutter and S.E Cupp. The show was later cancelled in October 2014. But he continued working as a regular contributor for CNN. He launched The Messy Truth in 2016, a news feature documentary series and subsequent studio discussion series, and was aired in 2017 on CNN as The Messy Truth with Van Jones.

Van has shown he is a supporting husband. In 2009, he publicly praised his wife for her exceptional skills both as a wife, a mother and as an entrepreneur. According to him, Jana is a power tool kind of girl, very independent, which makes it a little easier for her. He also said he loved her because she’s very resourceful. Jana used to run marathons and climb mountains. The couple and their two kids are currently residing in California.
