Jason Day’s Bio, Ethnicity

Day was born on 12 November 1987 in Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia which makes his ethnicity to be Australian. At age six, his father enrolled him at the Beaudesert Golf Club where he participated as a junior member, playing six holes a day. By the time he turned 8, his family relocated to Rockhampton where he continued playing golf and started winning in minor leagues in that area. The golfer attended Kooralbyn International School and later proceeded to Hills International College and it is said that the choices of school for him by his family were because of the golf facilities available there as at the time. He was also inspired to improve his golf abilities after reading about in a book he borrowed from his roommate in college.


The golf star landed his first major win when he was 13 years old in the Australian Masters Junior Event. Also, before he turned professional, Day won the Australian Junior Order of Merit twice and in 2004, he won the Australian Boys’ Amateur. On the international scene, he emerged the winner of the Boys 15–17 division held in the United States in the 2004 Callaway World Junior Championship.

In 2006, when he turned professional, the golfer’s popularity spread for landing major wins in countless competitions which include: the 2007 Legend Financial Group Classic in which he broke the record as the youngest man to win 3 tours on the PGA Tour and in May 2010, he also became the youngest Australian to win a PGA Tour event when he emerged at first place in the HP Byron Nelson Championship. It was, however, in February 2014 that Day landed his first World Golf Championship at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and the next year, on  September 20th, 2015, he was named World Number one on the Golf ranking.

The talented golfer is the son of Alvin, who was an Australian and Dening who was born in the Philippines but later relocated to Australia in the early 1980s. He is the only son of his parents alongside two other sisters named Yanna Day and Kim Day. His father is said to have placed him on the path towards being a golf legend right from childhood, however, Day recalls he was too hard on him and would usually use his fist on him if he did not perform well at his golf games.

By the time he turned 12, the golfer lost his father to cancer of the stomach and his mother is also known to be battling with the disease as she had undergone surgery for cancer sometime in 2017.

Another tragic event that has transpired in the family of the golfer is the loss of his relatives in the November 2013 Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines which also claimed the life of his grandmother.

The high profile golfer is married to Ellie Harvey whom he is said to have met when she was a working as a waitress at a restaurant located at Twinsburg, Ohio and when they eventually bumped into each other sometime later, they hooked up and tied the knot in 2009.

The couple has a son named Dash who was born in 2012 and a daughter named Lucy, born on 11 November 2015. They were expecting their third child but by late 2017, they announce on social media that they had lost the baby due to a miscarriage Ellie suffered. The pair described the loss as being very traumatic but believe that for everything there is a reason hence they are taking it bravely. Ellie also in a post, extends her heartfelt sympathy to families that have lost their unborn children via a miscarriage and says it is one of the worst experiences anyone can have.
