Jeff Teague might not make the cut when most people are naming their top five favourite NBA guards but the former Atlanta Hawk point man has, time after time, proven to be worthy of mention. The former Wake Forest University student, who now struts his stuff as a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves, is an NBA All-Star who has managed to appear in the Playoffs every year ever since he was drafted, a feat which only the best can brag about.
Biography
He was born Jeffrey Demarco Teague to Shawn and Carol Teague on the 10th of June 1988 in Indianapolis, Indiana. From a very young age, Teague played basketball and hoped to fashion a career out of it. He attended Pike High School where his talent was made evident for everyone to see as he was listed as the No. 9 point guard in the country by popular college sports recruiting website, Rivals.com.
Teague went on to enrol at Wake Forest University. In his first year, he averaged 13.9 points per game and garnered ACC All-Freshman Team honors. In his sophomore year, he was a consensus All-American as well as a finalist for the Bob Cousy Award, the John Wooden Award and the Oscar Robertson Trophy, after averaging 18.8 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. Following those achievements, Teague announced he was forgoing his final two college years to enter the 2009 NBA Draft where he was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 19th overall pick.
As a rookie in the NBA, Jeff Teague averaged 3.2 points, 1.7 assists, and 0.9 rebounds. He showed progression in his second year by increasing his averages to 5.2 points, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 rebounds. By his third year, Teague was one of the league’s most improved players as he became a starter for the Hawks, averaging 12.6 points, 4.9 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 steals.
Jeff Teague went on to play for four more years with the Hawks before he was traded to the Indiana Pacers. In his one season with his hometown team, he started and played a career-high 82 games, averaging 15.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 7.8 assists. At the end of the season, Teague chose not to stay with the Pacers as he opted to join the Minnesota Timberwolves on a three-year contract.

His Brother
Jeff Teague is not the only person in his family who has looked to make a career from playing professional sports. His younger brother, Marquis, who was born on the 28th of February 1993, is also a basketball player and currently plays for Korean Basketball League side Jeonju KCC Egis.
Marquis Teague has not always played overseas. After playing a year of college basketball alongside with whom he won an NCAA championship for the University of Kentucky Wildcats, he was selected by the Chicago Bulls with the 29th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft. He spent about two years in the Windy City before he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in January 2014. Teague failed to make an impression in Brooklyn so, by October that same year, he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers who waived him three days later. His next stop was in the NBA Development League with the Oklahoma City Blue. He spent about two years with the outfit before moving abroad, first to Isreal, then Russia before again returning to the development league in 2017.
Upon his return, Marquis joined the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, then the Memphis Hustle, his brother’s team G-League affiliate. He featured for the Grizzlies in 3 games at the end of the 2017-18 season before again moving abroad to Korea.
