Jeffrey Ross Toobin was born on the 21st day of May 1960 in New York, United States. He was born to Marlene Sanders and her husband Jerome Toobin. His father worked as a news producer while his mother was a former journalist and correspondent at ABC News.
Growing up, Toobin spent his early years in New York City where he attended Columbia Grammar & Prep School. After his graduation, he proceeded to Harvard College where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in American History and Literature. Having graduated with distinction, he was honored with a Harry S. Truman Scholarship for his excellent performance. He subsequently enrolled at Harvard Law School where he acquired his Juris Doctorate in 1986. While there, he worked as the editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Prior to his graduation from Harvard Law School, Jeffrey Toobin worked with a political commentary magazine called The New Republic. After his graduation, he started his law career by working as a clerk to a federal judge. Later on, he moved on to become an associate counsel to an Independent Counsel named Lawrence Walsh. During his stint with Walsh, Toobin had the opportunity to work on several cases, including the Iran-Contra affair and Oliver North’s criminal trial.
A few years later, Toobin moved to Brooklyn, New York where he served as an Assistant US Attorney for three years before resigning in 1993 to join The New Yorker as a legal analyst. Three years later, he joined ABC News where he served as one of their TV legal analysts before joining CNN in 2002. Working as CNN’s legal analyst, Toobin has brought analysis on several high profile cases, including ’s child molestation trial, President ’s investigation, and the O. J. Simpson civil case.
