Jermaine Jackson is a member of one of the most successful musical families to have walked the earth, the Jackson family. He is a singer and a songwriter who alongside his siblings formed members of the Jackson Five, a group that presented the legendary Michael Jackson to the world. Beyond just being a singer, Jermaine is also a bass guitarist and a songwriter. Although he remained in the shadows of Michael, he is also successful as a singer.

It was as Jermaine La Jaune Jackson that the singer was born on December 11, 1954, in Gary, Indiana, U.S. He was brought up in a very large and musically talented family by his parents, Joe Jackson and Katherine Jackson alongside his siblings, Rebbie, Jackie, Tito, La Toya, Marlon, Michael, Randy, and Janet Jackson. Though Jermaine and his siblings were raised as Jehova Witness, he converted to Islam in 1989.

His father who first had the dreams of becoming a boxer before abandoning the dream to take care of his family also had aspirations to become a singer but that did not materialize. However, he still had a guitar which Jermaine and his brothers would use in his absence to practice. This gave birth to their first band, the Jackson Brothers which had Jermaine as the lead singer. However, It was Michael Jackson who later became the lead singer when the group grew into The Jackson Five.

Even before he graduated from the Birmingham High School in Van Nuys in 1973, The Jackson Five had already signed a deal and had started releasing songs. They later signed to Motown Records but as a result of some disagreement, the highly successful group left for Epic Records, but Jermaine remained as a result of what he described as his loyalty to the record label. This was said to be as a result of his marriage to Hazel, the daughter of Motown’s founder, Berry Gordy.

Although the move separated him from The Jackson Five which now became The Jacksons in 1975, it got him to start his solo career fully. Nonetheless, even before this, he had started singing alone since 1972 and was already a successful singer with hit songs that sold millions of copies.

He released his first solo album, “Jermaine” in 1972 and then “Come INto My Life” in 1973. By 2012, he had already released 12 more albums including “Precious Moments” (1986), “Don’t Take It Personal” (1989), “You Said” (1991), and “I Wish You L.O.V.E” (2012).

Interestingly enough, she had already had two children with Randy; Genevieve Jackson, and Steven Randall Jackson Jr. One would think that after taking the woman of your youngest brother it would be love forever, but it was not to be as it ended in 2003 with three children, Jaafar, Donte, and Jermajesty. Before the marriage ended, it would later be revealed by the that he secretly got married to Lawanda Lane.

Halima Rashid became his official third wife after the two got married in 2004. They first met in January 2004 and by March, they were already engaged to get married five months later. in 2016, Halima filed for a divorce from the singer.

Before getting married to his brother’s former girlfriend and baby mama, Jermaine Jackson dated Margaret Maldonado for 7 years and they had two sons together. In total, he has seven children with three different women.

Interestingly enough, the Jackson Five legend announced in 2018 that he was getting set to marry his girlfriend Maday Velazquez who at the time, was only 23. The two have close to 40 years age difference between them.
