Joel Embiid plays for the Philadelphia 76ers of the NBA but he gained much respect for his one-season game with the University of Kansas before joining the National Basketball Association.

The 7-feet tall Cameroonian professional basketball player who nicknamed himself “The Process”, was named an NBA All-Star in 2018, thanks to his excellent skills and talent. He was born in the city of Yaoundé, Cameroon, to his father, Thomas Embiid, a military officer and his wife, Christine.

 Career History

Born as Joel-Hans Embiid on March 16, 1994, Embiid started playing basketball at the age of 15 following the footsteps of the Nigerian-American former professional basketball player, Hakeem Olajuwon whom he regarded as a worthy role model. Before picking up interest in basketball, Embiid was good in playing volleyball and soccer. He, however, started playing basketball officially at the age of 17, after he was discovered by an NBA player and native of Yaounde, Luc Mbah a Moute. He was then moved to the United States of America where he focused his attention on becoming a professional basketball player.

Joel became a professional basketball player in 2014 and has remained so even today. He started while at the University of Kansas where he played a one-year game and was named among the top 30 finalists for the Naismith College Player of the Year. Within the same year, he declared for the 2014 NBA draft and was made number 3 in round 1 by the Philadelphia 76ers. This was after he played 28 games, 8.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 2.6 blocks in 23.1 minutes per game, and averaging 11.2 points in 2013–14.

While he was with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2014, Joel received Big 12 All-defensive Team and the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and also won big 12 Defensive Player of The Year. He won the NBA All-Star award in 2018 and between the 2017-2018 season, he signed a five-year deal worth $147 million with the  Philadelphia team. His salary as of 2018 is $4 826 million which helps to give him an estimated net worth of $6 million.

Joel is no doubt a very tall man. His height has for long been a very controversial issue as many sports platforms list him as being 7.2 inches tall or 7.0 inches tall. The Sixers, however, list him at 7’0″ with a body weight of 113.4kg. The skilful baller has black hair and has dark brown eyes to go with it. He is most likely loved by fans for his skills and amazing height.
