In the world of sports, there is no good game without a good coach. And when it comes to coaches especially in basketball, a few names raid the Hall of Fame. One of which is John Calipari, he is undeniably one of the very best.
The Hall of Famer has a long list of accomplishments and honors to his name. To name a few, he has been the Basketball Times Coach of the Year twice (1996, 2015) and has been the NABC Coach of the Year thrice (1996, 2009, 2015). John Calipari Age and Early Life
John Calipari is the renowned head coach of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He was born on 10th February 1959 into a family of five in Moon Township, a suburb of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. His parents Vince Calipari and Donna Calipari have two other children; Terri Calipari and Lea Calipari.
The basketball coach is said to be of Italian descent. He graduated from Moon Area High School in 1978; that was where he had his early education and his first shot playing basketball. Afterward, he obtained a degree in Marketing from the Clarion State College. While in college, he played for the Clarion State Eagles.
John had a strong desire to excel in life. One time, he bought a trailer and rent it to save up money for his college fees. He would often write motivational quotes and stick them on the wall of his dormitory room. Fortunately, all that pep talk and resilience eventually paid off.
This coach has authored about five books. One of his books titled “Players First: Coaching from the Inside Out” became a New York Times Best Seller.

John has a wild array of properties and assets. In 2000, he purchased a 6,918 square-foot house with five bedrooms, an outdoor basketball and tennis court in Memphis, Tennessee at a cost which he sold for double the price in 2009. He has a foundation called ‘The Calipari Foundation’ which is involved in fundraising to help the less privileged in all parts of the country. In 2010, the foundation made donations to help victims of the Haiti earthquake. Victims of Hurricane Sandy were also beneficiaries of the benevolence of The Calipari Foundation.

John Calipari has an interesting family. His wife, Ellen Calipari is a skillful woodworker. She fits perfectly into a profession which most people would consider as masculine. She can make anything out of wood. Just name it; tables, chairs, coffee tables, bookshelves, desks, cabinets etc.
Ellen is an adorable combo of strength, beauty, and sophistication. The couple met at Kansas when John was just an assistant basketball coach while Ellen worked as a secretary. They got married 3 years later on June 22, 1986. The couple has three lovely children; Megan Rae, Erin Sue, and Bradley Vincent – the famous basketball player who also plays for the Kentucky Wildcats. That’s right! Brad Calipari is his son. Surprised? Its’ only natural for a Wildcat to breed one of his kind.
The basketball player was raised in Lexington, Kentucky. He attended MacDuffie High school where he majored in pre-marketing. He is also known for his mastery of the sports. What can we say? He simply took after the old man.
