Sofia Vergara is a beautiful Colombian model and actress who rose to prominence in the late 1990s while co-hosting two television shows for Univision – a Spanish-language television network.

Sofia was first discovered as a model by an undisclosed photographer who saw her walking on a Colombian beach. Excited and overwhelmed by her irresistible beauty and body shape, the said photographer formally asked Sofia if she could work in the media and as a model. Being a staunch Catholic, it took the Colombian queen time and permission from her family and teacher to finally accept the offers.

A four-time Golden Globe Awards winner, Vergara made her debut English appearances in 2003 in a Latino comedy film titled: Chasing Papi, in which she took the character of Cici – a cocktail waitress from Miami. Following an impressive stage performance on Chasing Papi, she went to secure so many acting gigs.

Born as Sofia Margarita Vergara, the Colombian beauty was born in Barranquilla, Colombia to Margarita Vergara de Vergara (mother) and Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo (father) on July 10, 1972.

Before separating from his wife, the star’s father worked as a cattle farmer while her mother, Margarita was a housewife. Born into a Roman Catholic family, Sofia and her five siblings (Rafael, Julio, Sandra and Veronica Vergara) were groomed to be calm, respectful, godly, and hardworking.

She had her high school education at Marymount International School, a private co-educational Catholic school bilingual English/ Spanish private school, in Barranquilla, Colombia. After a successful completion of studies at Marymount, she enrolled at the University of Colombia to study dentistry. However, she dropped out without completing the last two semesters in order to give chase to her modelling career.

Growing up, Sofia Vergara and her siblings were well taken care of by their parents. She, however, lost her older brother in 1998, in gunfire during a failed kidnapping attempt.
