John Salley, a veteran American former professional basketball player who later became a television personality and an actor, is said to have been raised in Georgia where he received his high school education at the Canarsie High School and, that he started to play basketball before he proceeded to Georgia Tech College of Management where he also played college basketball, rocking the number 22 Jersey.

He eventually graduated from the institution in 1986 and moved on to kick off his professional career. The talented player commenced playing professional basketball immediately after he graduated from college. He was chosen by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the NBA drafting of 1986. With that, he will get to play for the Pistons in NBA Championship twice – in 1989 and in the subsequent year.

He is an all-time leader for the team notable for blocking shots and also played in the period that his team came out for three consecutive NBA Finals under the leadership of Coach Chuck Daly.

In an exchange deal in 1992, John Salley was transferred to the Miami Heat and after some years of playing for the team, he moved to Toronto Raptor where he had a limited time to play. John requested to close his contract with the Raptors after which he was signed by the Chicago Bulls. In just one year of playing for the team, he attained a jaw-breaking record of 72 wins in a season, coupled with winning the NBA championship. John Salley announced his retirement immediately after winning the championship.

However, shortly after that, he decided to play in Greece, for the Greek Basket League as he was signed by the Panathinaikos where he is said to have played in only seven games for the team. He left Greece for Los Angeles after three years to play for the Los Angeles Lakers where he led the team to NBA championship in 2000 which was followed by two other championship wins for the team in 2001 and 2002. Following the three sequential NBA championship, John Salley’s final retirement in 2000 marked the end of his basketball career.

In the subsequent years that followed, Salley ventured into acting and he landed a role as a computer hacker in the film Bad Boys and its sequel Bad Boys II. He featured in the 2005 television sitcom, Noah’s Arc as Victor and played the role of a tall elf in the Disney film, The Ultimate Christmas. He was also in the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic and in 2018, he landed a role in Nappily Ever After Salley.
