If you are a lover of professional wrestling, then you might have come across the face of the one-time manager of Real American Wrestling (RAW), Jonathan Coachman, popularly known as ‘The Coach’. Coachman is not an actual wrestler but a professional wrestling personality who served the wrestling community as a commentator and host. Jonathan William Coachman was born on August 17, 1973, in McPherson, Kansas. He has kept everything about his family background and childhood experiences close to the chest and has failed to reveal anything about his family. Therefore, the name of his parents or their profession has remained unknown as well as any information regarding his siblings (if he has any).

He is believed to have grown up in McPherson as he attended both his high school and college there. For his high school education, Jonathan Coachman attended McPherson High School, where played basketball and won a championship. His love for the sport continued and when he got admitted to McPherson College, he kept playing. However, his interest began to diversify in college as he got involved in theatre, editing news stories and commentary. He was a play-by-play commentator while in college for a local football and basketball radio station. After college, he began his career proper as a sports commentator.

Career

Jonathan Coachman began his career as a sports host, anchor, and commentator when he was quite young. While in college, he worked as a sports editor for the school newspaper and later worked as a color and play-by-play commentator for basketball and football games. He also worked as a sports reporter and anchor at KAKE in Kansas.

He later worked at KMBC-TV, also located in Kansas. While there, he covered the death of Owen Hart as a correspondent. When he left KMBC-TV, he moved over to World Wrestling Federation, (WWF) – currently known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) – on a nine-year contract. He worked as an interviewer, commentator, and presenter at WWE before earning his first assignment as an anchor alongside , popularly known as The Rock.

He later became an assistant to the general manager of RAW at that time, Eric Bischoff. This position lasted from 2003-2006 and he was promoted to executive assistant in 2006. He stayed at this position until 2007 when he took over from John “Bradshaw” Layfield as the lead commentator alongside WWE favorite, Micheal Cole. Later in 2008, Jonathan’s contract with WWF expired and he didn’t deem it necessary to renew it.

Consequently, he moved to ESPN and followed the same career path. He was a sideline reporter, a commentator, a sports analyst, and a host. He worked at the station until 2017 when his contract with them expired. Jonathan, yet again, took up another job in affiliation with the wrestling company. Currently, he works as a color commentator alongside Michael Cole and .

Family – Children, Wife (Amy Coachman)

Jonathan Coachman is happily married to a former athlete and personal trainer, Amy Coachman. There has been no information or background story on how the couple met or when they started dating, however, it is known that the couple got married in 1999. Amy is a medical personnel who attended Pella Community High School and furthered her education at Iowa State University. She graduated with a B.Sc. degree in 2005. She is currently an Immunotherapy Sales Specialist, among other things.

On the family front, she is also successful; she has two lovely kids with her husband. The name of her first child is Katana while the last is JJ, born in 2009.
