Jordan Pickford’s Biography
It was as Jordan Lee Pickford that the English goalkeeper was born on 7 March 1994 in the English town of Washington in Sunderland city. Unlike many other kids who grew up to play football because their parents had a thing with the sports, the Everton stopper’s father was a builder while his mother was a housekeeper.
Even as he loved football while growing up, Jordan also got to begin schooling at St Robert of Newminster Catholic School before he later attended the Sunderland Academy after it was apparent that he was destined to play football.
It was in Sunderland that he was raised with an older brother, Richard Logan in a home that wasn’t rich. As he would later reveal, it was Richard who put him on the path to becoming a footballer.
The Everton number 1 started as a youth player with Sunderland in 2002 and he remained there until he got promoted to the senior team in 2011. Although he remained with the club until 2017, he spent most of his seasons away on loan to clubs like Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End.
It was after he returned from Preston North End that he made a move to Everton in a deal that saw him become the most expensive English goalkeeper ever and the third most expensive goalkeeper worldwide.
By the end of the 2017/2018 season, in which his club ended 8 on the league table, he had already played 38 games for the club.
Since joining the club he has recorded some accolades including being awarded the club’s Player of the Season, Players’ Player of the Season, and Young Player of the Season all in the 2017/2018 season.
National Football Career
The Everton goalkeeper first made his appearance for England as an under-16 player in 2008. The next year he was in the English national colors playing with the under-17 team, and then the under-18 which he was a part of until 2012 when he joined the under 19.
In 2015, the star keeper who it is believed may grow to be one of the best English goalkeepers started with the country’s under-20 and later under-21 team. It was, however, until 2017 that he made his start as a part of the senior team.
Before he was called to play for the country in Russia, he had played only two games for England. At the tournament in which the Three Lions ended in the fourth place, he was made the first choice keeper of England.
Pickford has not been known to have dated any woman publicly in the past except for his girlfriend, Megan Davison. The two have been together for a very long time as they began dating when they were still teenagers.
The goalkeeper and Megan Davison who have 2 years between them met in their hometown of Sunderland and since then, they have continued as a couple. While he now plays football for a living, his girlfriend is a university graduate.
