Jordan Reed is a Pro Bowl tight end who plays for the Washington Redskins. The 2013 NFL Draft third-round pick has so far had a very impressive National Football League (NFL) career and has been said by a few analysts to be on his way to becoming the best in his position in the league.
Jordan Reed’s Bio
Jordan Reed was born and raised in New London, Connecticut by his parents; Karen Reed and David Lott. He is the younger brother of former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver David Reed who was part of the team that won Super Bowl XLVII.
As a child, Reed and his older brother were inseparable. The two were said to have always played football together, even in school, where he played as a quarterback and David as a wide receiver for New London High School. Reed’s notable high school performance was in his junior year when he completed 122 of 222 passes for 1,706 yards and 38 touchdowns. He led his team to an undefeated regular season in that campaign and was the following year a finalist for the Joe Montana High School Quarterback of the Year Award.
Upon graduation, Reed accepted a scholarship offer to attend the University of Florida. With the Florida Gators, Reed who was recruited as a quarterback struggled to make the team in that position. He later moved to the tight end position where he enjoyed considerable amounts of success for two seasons before announcing he would forgo his senior year to enter the draft. He finished his collegiate career with 78 receptions for 938 yards and six touchdowns.
Jordan Reed was drafted by the Washington Redskins with the 85th overall pick in the third round. He announced himself to the league by becoming the first Redskins rookie to score a touchdown within their first two games of their career since Chris Cooley in 2004. Reed went on to record his first 100-plus yard game on October 20, 2013, against the Chicago Bears. In that game, he further set a new Redskins franchise record for receiving yards by a rookie tight end and recorded a career-high nine receptions for a career-high 134 yards and 1 touchdown. Reed’s season was later cut short after he suffered a concussion. His performances before the injury, however, earned him a place to Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers of America all-rookie team.
In his second and third season, Reed continued to show growth as a player, setting a number of career-high statistics along the way to being named among the NFL Top 100 Players of 2016 where he ranked 77th. At the beginning of the 2016 season, the Redskins rewarded Reed, who was still on his rookie contract, with a five-year $50 million contract extension. It was business as usual for the tight end who continued to put in impressive performances which led to him this time ranking 65th on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017 list. He also earned his first Pro Bowl nomination in that season.
Who is Jordan Reed’s Wife?
Jordan Reed has been in the most roller coaster of all roller coaster relationships ever with his wife Danielle Newsome. She is a former college track athlete who was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska before moving to Florida where she graduated with a degree in neuroscience from the University of Florida.
The pair, who are known to be notoriously secret about their relationship, given that the date of the wedding is unknown, met each other while in college. They were both on athletic scholarships, which meant that they usually spent time among each other because all the athletes were required to practice, eat meals in the cafeteria, and study together.
Newsome has revealed that Reed was too shy to approach her but had told other people he was interested in her. They were eventually set up by a mutual friend and went on to become a couple. After a few years together, Reed and Newsome got a pit bull named Ace which they raised together. They later got engaged and had a daughter named Jada in 2014. After their daughter, things got rough for the couple as they reportedly separated and put a hold on their relationship although they are now said to be back together.
