Jordan Spieth was born Jordan Alexander Spieth on July 27, 1993, in Dallas, Texas and was raised in his hometown. His parents are Shawn Spieth and Mary Christine Spieth, who was married as Mary Christine Julius and together, they have three children. Spieth’s other siblings are younger than him. His brother, Steven Spieth is a basketball player and he plays for the Brown Bears which is the male basketball team of the Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island and he also has a sister, Ellie Spieth (more on her much later). Spieth has a mixed heritage of both Irish and German, however, his nationality is American and his ethnicity is white.

Even though he got interested in golf at the tender age of four, Speith did not always prefer golf as his professional career may suggest today. He played a number of sports while growing up including baseball, American football, soccer and basketball. As a child, he would practice golf on the family’s lawn which he had mowed specifically for the purpose but he would later learn to play golf at Brookhaven Country Club and with then-golf expert, Cameron McCormick as his mentor at the age of ten. His excellence at the game continued to show in the course of attending high school at St. Monica Catholic School and Jesuit College Preparatory School where he completed high school before graduating in 2011. He attended University of Texas, Austin.

As mentioned earlier, Jordan Spieth’s family is made up of his father, Shawn Spieth, his mother, Mary Christie Speith, and his siblings – Steven and Ellie Spieth. Spieth’s father Shawn is an entrepreneur and founder of a media analytics startup, having played baseball in college with Lehigh University while his mother is a computer engineer, who also played basketball at Moravian College. Little wonder where the athletic spirit in the family came from. But if anyone in the family would take credit for being the source of the sporting breakthroughs recorded and achieved in the family, especially by Jordan Spieth himself, it would be Ellie Spieth, the last born of the family.
