American actor Josh Brolin started his career in the mid-1980’s with appearances in films like The Goonies, No Country for Old Men and Milk. His career breakthrough came in 1996 with the film Flirting With Disaster. He has made a name for himself in the motion picture industry with several film and television projects tied to his name.

Biography and Age of Josh Brolin

On the 12th of February 1968, Josh was born to Jane Cameron (Agee) and James Brolin in Santa Monica, California. This makes him an American by nationality, while his ethnicity is a mix of all of Swiss-German, English, Scottish, and Irish.

His mother; Jane was a wildlife activist from Corpus Christi, Texas, while his father James was an actor. His full name is Josh James Brolin and he grew up on a ranch in Templeton, California where his parents lived till they had a divorce when Josh was 16 years old (1984).

Young Josh Brolin had little exposure to his father’s acting profession and he was quick to pick interest in acting and subsequently improved by taking acting classes in high school. In his childhood, he was a member of a friendship surfing group which called themselves ‘Citto Rats.’ According to him, the group comprised of the children of the rich, poor and neglectful parents, but they all grew up the same way. To him, he has never seen a group like that before or after it.

Josh also admitted to indulging in drug abuse and stealing cars to pay for his drug: heroin which he still admitted to having never enjoyed. He disclosed that he lost a total of 24 of his childhood friends to heroin.

Acting Career

Josh ventured into his career on television as a guest on television shows before landing a role as Brand Walsh in The Goonies, the 1985 film directed by Richard Donner.

In the following year being 1986, he acted as Corey Webster in Thrashin where he described the quality of his acting as ‘horrendous’ after it was premiered. He then had a movie hiatus only appearing in stage roles in Rochester, New York with his mentor and friend Anthony Zerbe. During this time, Josh started doing well with roles in television series notable among which includes 1986 Highway to Heaven as Josh Bryant in the episode Finish Line, a couple of other series followed then the ABC western television series The Young Riders, that lasted a total of three seasons from 1989 to 1992 came and the Aaron Spelling production Winnetka Road (1994) and Mister Sterling (2003).

Josh Brolin came back as Tom in The Road Killers, a 1993 film. He became consistent with many film projects that followed each other year after year as no two years passed without Josh being in the newest films of that year. This was also in addition to his now flourishing presence in most highly watched television series.

Most recently, he was seen as Eric “Supe” Marsh in Joseph Kosinski’s 2017 Only the Brave film. This was followed by Jody Hill’s 2018 The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter where he played the character of Buck Ferguson, then Thanos, Nathan Summers/Cable and Matt Graver in Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2 and Sicario: Day of the Soldado respectively.

Family – Wife, Kids, Dad

Josh Brolin’s father remarried to , a singer and actress of that time. Jane, his mother, would later die in a car accident in 1995 on his 27th birthday which marked a sad period in his life.

Josh has gone the path of marriage four times with three divorces and one surviving marriage. He was first married to fellow thespian Alice Adair beginning from 1988 to 1994. Their six years of marriage saw to the birth of two children: Trevor Mansur born in June 1988 and Eden born in 1994.

After Alice came another actress named Minnie Driver who Josh was acquainted with for six months but didn’t go further than that. He married the Diane Lane still in the acting profession on August 15, 2004, and had a divorce with her in 2013.

Good enough, it seems Josh Brolin has finally found his ideal woman as he has been with his former assistant and a model named Kathryn Boyd after engaging her in March 2015 and walking her down the aisle on September 24, 2016.
