Born Catherine Louise Sagal on the 19th of January 1954 in Los Angeles, California; Katey was born to Ukranian-Jewish father Boris Sagal and his wife Sara Zwilling. Interestingly, her mother was a singer but she died in 1975 after suffering from a heart disease; while her father who worked as a film director passed on six years later in 1981. He was said to have died while filming the series titled World War III. The young Katey Sagal was raised in Brentwood, Los Angeles along with her four siblings. There she completed her basic education, after which she enrolled at the California Institute of the Arts where she studied singing and acting.

Acting Career

Upon graduation, Katey made her acting debut in 1971 when she played the role of a patient in The Failing of Raymond. She went on to play minor roles in other films such as Larry, The Dream Makers, Columbo, and The Bold Ones: The New Doctors until 1975. Sagal got her first big role in the series titled Mary. The young actress featured as a newspaper columnist alongside from 1985 to 1986. Subsequently, she joined the cast of the 1985 sitcom titled Married…with Children, where she played the recurring role of Peggy Bundy until 1997.

During the ‘90s, Katey Sagal starred in television series such as Tales From the Crypt, The Earth Day Special, Trial of Tears, Space Cases, Recess, and Chance of a Lifetime. In the 2000s, she appeared in Tucker, Imaging That, 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter, Sons of Anarchy, Glee, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and many others.

Additionally, she has appeared in dozens of movies including The Good Mother where she portrayed Ursula alongside Diane Keaton and . Others are Dropping Out, I’m Reed Fish, House Broken, Jack, and the Woodstock, and Pitch Perfect, just to mention a few. The amazing star is also gifted in singing; she launched her first music album titled Well… in 1994 and her second titled Room in 2004. Furthermore, Katey and White separated having been married for about a decade due to irreconcilable differences and later got divorced in 2010. Following their divorce, Katey Sagal married Kurt Sutter in a secret wedding ceremony held in 2004. They welcomed a daughter Esme Louise from a surrogate mother in 2007.
