The mezzo-soprano singer, songwriter, and performer began her career in 1998 and has gone ahead to sing at major events, producing seven albums that enjoyed massive commercial success and topped the chart along the way. She has also embarked on an acting career that has seen her appear on a number of TV shows.

Katherine Jenkins Bio

The soprano singer was born Katherine Maria Jenkins on 29 June 1980 in Neath, Wales, to her parents; Susan and Selwyn John. She was brought up along with her sister Laura who works for a charity.

Jenkins attended Neath’s Dwr Y Felin Comprehensive School from where she proceeded to Gorseinon College. When she was 15, she lost her father to lung cancer while her mother worked as a mammographer with Breast Test Wales.

From the time she was 11, she was a member of the Royal School of Church Music Cathedral Singers. By 1996, she had passed the St. Cecilia Award which was the highest RSCM award she could get. The singer, who would later become one of Britain’s most loved artists, went on to win the BBC Radio 2 Welsh Choirgirl of the Year contest twice, as well as the BET Welsh Choirgirl of the Year competition. With a number of other awards to her name, she went to the Royal Academy of Music on scholarship and graduated with honors.

Before following her musical path, Jenkins first worked as a voice coach, a tour guide, and then as a model. In 2000, she entered the face of Wales competition which she won. Before too long, she hated working as a model and decided to instead, concentrate on her music. As things would pan out, she was invited by Universal in 2003 for an audition after which she was given a six-album deal, which automatically became the most lucrative deal in UK’s classical recording history.

Her first album, Premiere was released in 2004 followed by Second Nature in the same year. In 2005, she released Living a Dream and then Serenade (2006), Rejoice (2007), Sacred Arias (2008), and Believe (2009) before going on to release five more albums, including Guiding Light (2018).

Who Is Her Husband? Everything You Need To Know About Her Family

Even though Jenkins was successful in everything, she was not successful in her first try with love. In 2007, she began a relationship with television presenter Gethin Jones, whom she met on Strictly Come Dancing. At the time, Gethin was a contestant on the show while she was making a guest appearance.

In February 2011, Jones and Jenkins announced their engagement which lasted until December of the same year when they called it off. Jones’ sister, Mererid, would later reveal in a chat with Dave Vitty that her brother wants perfection in women. She revealed that he never liked anything wrong, not even middle toe being longer than the big toe, which is exactly what Jenkins has, making people speculate if it was the reason why Gethin called off the engagement.

After the relationship ended, rumors came in 2012 that she was in a relationship with David Beckham, something she came out and denied. Her success with love came when she met American painter, sculptor, and filmmaker Andrew Levitas in October 2013. They first appeared in public together on January 1, 2014, when the classical singer was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

After dating for a short while, the couple got engaged in April 2014. Five months into their engagement, the two tied the knot at an event at Hampton Court Palace. The following year, on September 30, 2015, the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Aaliyah Reign. They followed her up with a son named Xander who was born on April 24, 2018. Xander may as well be the last child of the couple as the singer revealed in 2018 that they are not having any additional children.
