Kellie Pickler gained much fame and popularity after she participated in the 5th season of American Idol and walked away with the 6th position.

In 2006, Kellie signed to 19 Recordings and BNA Records from where she dropped her debut album, Small Town Girl – an album that sold over 900,000 copies. Some of the tracks like Things That Never Cross a Man’s Mind, I wonder, and Red High Heels made it to the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.

Beautiful Kellie Pickler was born in Albemarle, North Carolina, on June 28, 1986, to Cynthia Morton and Clyde Raymond Pickler, Jr. Her mother left her when she was just two years old only to return after a while, took custody of her for another two years, then left again.

The court had to return her back to her grandparents who brought her up and as for her father, he was never a part of her life. Kellie said in an interview that her biggest influencers are her grandparents who have always been there for her.

Pickler graduated from High school (North Stanly High School, New London, North Carolina) in 2004.

After High School, she worked as a waitress at a Sonic Drive-In franchise. In 2005, she participated in WSOC-TV’s Gimme the Mike! Charlotte contest where she took the second position.

She also participated in the Miss America circuit, at 17; she won the “Miss Stanly County” pageant the same year and in 2004, she contested for the Miss North Carolina pageant but didn’t win.

American Idol

In 2005, 19-year-old Pickler auditioned for American Idol, impressing the judges with her performance of both ‘s Since You’ve Been Gone and Martina McBride’s A Broken Wing. She got a pass to Hollywood, where she scaled through every step of the competition until she reached the semi-final rounds in February and then the Top 12 in March.

She was among Simon Cowell’s favourites, he said he preferred her to (season 4 winner) and predicted she would be in the final three, unfortunately, she ended her journey at the 6th place.

In an article published in US Weekly magazine entitled “Kellie: The Next Jessica Simpson”, Kellie was compared to because of her “sweet Southern style and ditzy demeanour”.

Pickler stated several times during the show that she was not heavily exposed to modern pop culture and had hardly ever performed before real audiences – these may have given her some sort of an advantage.

After her elimination from the Idol, she returned to her hometown where she was warmly received by the whole community. The mayor proclaimed the day as “Kellie Pickler Day.” She also received numerous awards from both local and state officials. Kellie also reunited with her father.

In July 2006, she signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings and BNA Records and released her first album titled Small Town Girl in October of the same year. Her second album Kellie Pickler and third 100 Proof, were released in 2008 and 2012 respectively. In 2012 she signed a new record deal with Black River Entertainment, under which she released her first single Someone Somewhere Tonight in May 2013 and her fourth album, The Woman I Am, in November.

Kellie is currently married to country music songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, and pianist, Kyle Jacobs. The couple tied the knot at a small ceremony which took place at the Caribbean in January 2011.
