Kelly Ripa Kids, Husband, Family

During her time on ABC daytime soap opera, All My Children which is where she first found fame, Kelly Ripa met a certain Mark Consuelos who was added to the show in 1995, five years after Kelly began playing her role as Hayley Vaughan.

Fresh outta college, (he earned a marketing degree from the University of South Florida in 1994), Mark landed in New York City with hopes to pursue a career in acting. His first audition was for the role of Mateo Santos on AMC and for his screen tests, he was paired with who else? Kelly.

His character would later become Kelly’s love interest, but before the plot would develop to that point, the two had developed a thing for each other.

“My first impression of my wife was—she was obviously extremely beautiful—but she was really funny, really intelligent, really quick,” Mark told E! in 2006.

In less than a year after becoming co-stars, Kelly and Mark were ready to take their relationship to the next level. They eloped on May 1, 1996, when they got married in a small chapel – Kelly is a lifelong Catholic.

After their wedding in Vegas, they jetted off to Rome for their honeymoon which lasted for a week. When they returned, they both continued to star in AMC until 2001 (they later returned in 2010 when they appeared in a couple of episodes).

While Kelly had left the show to focus on her new gig – Live!, Mike continued to score roles both on the small and big screen. Since Kelly came on Live! Mike has been a favorite guest star. Mike made a guest appearance on Hope & Faith – Kelly’s next sitcom since leaving AMC in 2001. She remained on the ABC sitcom throughout its entire run from 2003 to 2006.

Thirteen months from the marriage was how long it took Kelly and husband Mark to begin a family together. The couple welcomed their first kid Michael Joseph on born June 2, 1997. He got into college in 2016.

Four years later, they welcomed the next child, a daughter named Lola Grace born on June 16, 2001. Their third and last child, son Joaquin Antonio Consuelos was born on February 24, 2003.

Kelly frequently speaks about her kids on her Live! show. Like in a 2017 episode where she cried on set while speaking to her co-host .

In 2007, Kelly and her husband established their own production company, Milojo formed using the first two letters of each of their three kids. Milojo’s first project was The Streak, a feature documentary about the Brandon High School wrestling team and its 34-year winning streak.

The Streak which premiered at the Tribeca film festival in 2008 snapped an Emmy nomination. The company’s other projects include; docu-series Masters of Reception, film Off the Rez, short film; “The Bensonhurst Spelling Bee” and more.
