Kevin Hogan’s Biography

The Burgundy and Gold player was named Kevin Michael Hogan after he was born on October 20, 1992, in McLean, Virginia to Jerry (father) and Donna (mother) Hogan. In his family are his elder brother and sister Brian and Kelly.

Kevin Hogan got enrolled at the much beloved Jesuit boys high school and later the Gonzaga College High School in Washington where he began playing American football more purposefully and tactically for the Eagles football team. The kid was quite good to have been named a two-time first team All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference selection in his junior year and in like manner after his senior year, the Fairfax County Football Hall of Fame named him the 2010 Outstanding High School Player of the Year for private schools just as he also got the D.C. Player of the Year honors and made the list of 2010 Washington Post First Team All-Met.

After high school, Kevin entered Stanford University in the year 2012 and as expected, became a better footballer as he trained and played with his Stanford Cardinals football teammates. He played exceptionally well in his first few games of the season for which he got named the starting quarterback for the Cardinals. By the end of his first college football season, Hogan recorded 263 rushing yards which became the 7th highest for a Stanford quarterback in the school’s history.

His second season (2013) saw him post 2,630 passing yards with 20 touchdowns passing, two rushing touchdowns, and 10 memorable interceptions. The 2014 season followed in like manner with a few increases and drops in his stats having; 2,792 passing yards with 19 passing touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns, and eight interceptions. In his final season of college football, he posted 2,867 passing yards and 27 touchdowns, rushing for 336 yards and 6 touchdowns which were all good enough to get teams in the NFL interested in him.

NFL Career

The Kansas City Chiefs brought Kevin Hogan into the NFL as the 162nd overall pick in the 5th round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Nevertheless, come September 3, 2016, about 5 months after they signed the lad, they released him and the Cleveland Browns came calling for his services afterward.

Kevin Hogan made his NFL debut with the Cleveland Browns on October 23, 2016, against the Cincinnati Bengals. He, however, didn’t see much playing time in the rest of the season as the team’s starting quarterback was used in most of the season’s games.

Coming into the 2017 season; his second professional season in the NFL, Kevin was the preferred backup to . However, following a streak of injuries DeShone suffered, Hogan was handed the responsibility of the Brown’s starting quarterback which he performed in a couple of matches before Kizer was renamed the teams starting QB. Hogan, prior to giving way for DeShone, then suffered a rib injury which saw him being listed on the inactive list for the last three games of the season.

In pursuance of a massive purge of the Cleveland Brown’s quarterbacks by the team’s management which had already seen DeShone Kizer sent off to the Green Bay Packers and Cody Kessler shipped to the Jacksonville Jaguars, Kevin Hogan was next in line to be let off by the team. It should be recalled that the Browns lost most of their games in the 2017 season so the reason for the quarterback overhaul should be well understood and not misconstrued.

The Washington Redskins then acquired Kevin Hogan from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for a 6th round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. As Kevin is very much playing at home now, a lot is expected of him in this season and for as long as he plays for the Redskins and being that he had already that it is a dream come true for him to play for the Washington Redskins, we are all sure to expect an impressive performance from him.
