Kevin White is the seventh overall pick in the 2015 National Football League (NFL) Draft by the Chicago Bears where he plays as a wide receiver. He played collegiate football in West Virginia and was rated one of the two best wide receivers of the 2015 class with Amari Cooper. His career has seen more injuries than it has appearances, yards, receptions, and touchdowns, nevertheless, he is more determined than ever to prove his form and make his mark in the NFL.
Kevin White’s Bio
Born Kevin Romone Jr. White in Plainfield, New Jersey, on June 25, 1992, White started on his way to becoming an NFL player with a dream too big to be doused by obstacles. He moved to Allentown when he was about 10 and in middle school, then to the tiny borough of Macungie before his sophomore year in high school.
He attended Emmaus High School, Pennsylvania. Though he wasn’t really known in high school as he spent most of the seasons on the bench or playing cornerback, he exploded prior to his senior year. He was limited by his grades following his senior year in high school which saw him attending Lackawanna College for two seasons. The institution is located at Scranton, Pennsylvania with a strong track record of developing quality Division 1 football players.
Following a stint in Lackawanna, he proceeded to West Virginia in 2013 where he was considered one of the two best wide receivers of the 2015 class alongside Amari Cooper. A dynamite in the game, Kevin White eventually became an All American and a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award.
He finished his collegiate career with 144 receptions, 1,954 yards, and 15 touchdowns having started all the games in his senior season. Kevin White was poised to become a star with the Bears following his draft as the 7th overall pick in the 1st round with a world of possibility opening up for him. However, that is yet to be achieved.
Though he had a successful collegiate career, his professional career has been hampered by a series of injuries seeing him spend more time on the injured reserve than he has on the field. He missed his entire rookie season following a shin injury, followed by other series of injuries which limited him to 21 receptions and 193 yards in only 5 NFL games out of 48 in three seasons.
One interesting quality about Kevin White though is his determination. He was correctly described by his coach in Lackawanna, Mark Duda, as a Ferrari with a diesel engine that would never stop. White is still holding strong to that same determination to see him to the fields where he would shine unlimited. He is a potential dynamic playmaker for the offense of any team and is set to prove his form having crossed all obstacles to rehab from his spell of injuries.
Though the Bears declined his fifth-year option in May 2018, White remains undaunted by the impediment the injuries has placed on his career path. He is more determined than ever to make a comeback and prove his form in the gridiron.
Family, Parents, Siblings
Kevin is the first of six children born to their parents, Kevin White Sr. and Tammy White: four boys, Kevin, Kyzir, Kizer and Ka’Raun and two girls including Kiyae who plays basketball for the Auburn Tigers on an athletic scholarship. She majors in communications, with a minor in sports management. As kids, the White brothers with a huge determination to play in the NFL dueled in everything including basketball, video games, and cornhole.
His brothers seemingly followed in their big brother’s steps: from Emmaus to Lackawanna to West Virginia where they also played football. Ka’Raun and Kyzir are already playing in the leagues with Ka’Ruan as a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals and Kyzir, outside linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers. You know dreams do come true, right? Finally, we have three White brothers in the NFL arena.
Despite the injuries that seem to have put a pause on their brother’s career and NFL dreams, they still believe in him and are confident that he would bounce back better and stronger than he has ever been.
Kevin White’s Girlfriend
The Bears wide receiver is dating Roxy Gbor and the duo has been together since before his NFL draft. Roxy with her real name as Roskana, is a 2014 graduate of the University of Louisville. She is a model and works for 10 Management, a modeling agency in Chicago.
Kevin White’s Height, Weight
Kevin White may be devastated by his injury beset career but completely undeterred. He has a penchant for outrunning defenders and an ability to stretch the field with his speed, his size, and leaping ability also plays a role in his standout performances. At 6 feet 3 inches (1.91 m) tall and a massive body that weighs 215 lbs (98 kg), Kevin is one of the huge players in the gridiron arena. His arm length is 32 5/8″ while his hand measures 9 1/4″.
