Kwon Alexander’s Biography

The NFL star is the son of Peaches Taylor (mother) and Broderick Taylor (father). He was welcomed into the world on the 3rd of August 1994, in the United States, precisely in Oxford, Alabama.

Kwon graduated from Oxford High School where he was part of the school’s football team. During his days at the institution, he manned the defensive side of the ball, posting 17 sacks, 144 tackles, and six forced fumbles as a junior in 2010. The super-talented player also took part in the Under Armour All-American Game and was selected as a finalist for the High School Butkus Award, which is bestowed on the nation’s top linebacker annually.

In addition, Kwon was honourably mentioned as a Class 6A All-State Football Team and was listed on the 2011 ESPN All-Alabama Football Team. Besides his footballing skills, Alexander is also proficient in track and field. At Oxford, he recorded a personal-best time of 11.24 seconds in the 100-meter dash at the 2011 AHSAA 6A Section 4.

The Buccaneers player joined Louisiana State University (LSU) in the year 2012 and graduated in 2014. While his career at the institution lasted, he featured in 7 games (with two starts) and also recorded 12 tackles in his freshman. As a sophomore, Kwon Alexander started 9 of 13 games, finishing the season with impressive 65 tackles. In his junior year, the footballer topped his team 1.5 tackles and 92 tackles, making him one of the finest linebackers in LSU history.

Upon completion of his junior year in 2014, Kwon announced on his social media page that he intends to forgo his senior year in order to join the 2015 NFL Draft. At the NFL Scouting Combine held in Indianapolis, Indiana, the football player finished all of the necessary drills, emerging the ninth-best linebacker in the three-cone drill, the sixth in the short shuttle and bench pass, and the second among all linebackers in the 40-yard dash.

He was later chosen in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Alexander and was the 11th linebacker drafted in his NFL class. The footballer would eventually sign a four-year contract worth $2.75 million with the Buccaneers on May 12, 2015. The deal came with a signing bonus estimated to be $478,322. After making his debut for the team in a game against the Tennesse Titans, he went on to finish the season with nine pass deflections, two interceptions in 12 starts and 12 games, 93 combined tackles (59 solo), and three sacks while his team, the Buccaneers finished fourth in the NFC South.

Kwon’s appearances in the 2016 season weren’t bad as well, they earned him the fourth position in the football league after he gained seven deflections, an interception in 16 starts and 16 games, three sacks and 145 combined.

He opened the 2017 season by playing against the Chicago Bears. As gathered, he intercepted his former teammate in the victory game and also recorded a pass deflection and one solo tackle. In the course of his game in the same year, Alexander sustained a hamstring injury that kept him away from the field for the next four games. He subsequently made a comeback and was able to finish the season with impressive records. As a result of his brilliant performance in the league, Kwon was selected to feature in Pro Bowl as a replacement for Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner who sustained an injury during a game.

His Family – Brother

Kwon Alexander is well known for sharing a cordial relationship with his younger brother Broderick Taylor II, who was his closest friend until his demise in 2005 at the age of 17. Taylor was shot dead on a Friday night during a street fight. The incident took place in Anniston, which is also his hometown. Until the time of his death, Kwon’s brother was schooling at Oxford High School. He was reportedly murdered by a young man called Jerald Bailey who was later convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to life in prison for slaying the teenager.
