The basketball sensation, LaMelo Ball was born in Chino Hills, California on August 22, 2001. He was born to and and has two brothers – and . His parents have been involved with sports for a while and often took their children along with them. His father played basketball and soccer professionally at Washington State University and California State University Los Angeles. Ball’s mom works at a middle school at Montclair as a Director of Athletics.

Both his brothers – Lonzo and LiAngelo are basketballers. LaMelo attends Chino Hills High School, California. Much is not known about his grades in school but a lot is known of his basketball records and success. He started playing basketball at the age of 4 and was tutored by his father. As a child, he played for some basketball amateur teams and when he got into high school, he continued playing basketball but this time under the supervision of the high school coach.

LaMelo Ball made his debut appearance with Chino Hills on the 16th of June 2015 against John Muir High School. It was a very impressive start-up for the young baller as he awed the crowd, his family and mentors by scoring 27 points. His subsequent games were also laudable as he scored nothing less than 20 points in all his matches.

His consistent success attracted the attention of several colleges and universities who wanted him to play for them after his high school career. The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) beat others to it and were able to clinch a verbal commitment from LaMelo to play for them. However, this never happened.

One of the highlights of LaMelo’s high school career was winning the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Open Division championship. He aided and abetted the win by scoring 26 points in the deciding game against Sierra Canyon School in March 2016.

His stay with Chino Hills was an eventful one, especially in 2016. In that year, Chino Hills ranked No 1 in the USA and also qualified for the State championship which they won with LaMelo in the team. He scored 14 points to give his team the victory over De La Salle High School that won the CIF State Boys Basketball Championship.

By the end of 2016, LaMelo Ball began to score 30 points per game and maintained the status quo. This and his half-court score brought him a lot of media attention and accolades nationally. His best performance was against Los Osos High School in February 2017, when he scored an amazing 92 points to give his school the victory.

The young basketball protégée has been likened to the NBA star, , for his repeated long three-pointers. LaMelo’s high school days may be over but his basketball days are still very much ahead of him. Currently, he plays for the SPIRE Institute, Ohio.
